MingYu woke into bird song. The air was warm, the sun blinding him through his closed lids. It was clearly summer. The scent of fresh crops, newly turned soil, and the soft music of running water was all he could hear and smell.
But it should be winter. The earth was already covered under a thin layer of soft white snow, the air prickling his skin and chafing his cheeks raw. How could this be?
With hesitance, he blinked his eyes open. The glaring sun blinded him, and he blinked a few times, trying to get used to the harsh light. He was lying on a long stretch of grass, and as he raised his hand to cover his eyes, his arm was no longer his.
