The further into the village the crew travelled, the older and more weather-beaten the houses became. MingYu ran his eyes over the low straw roofs, the chickens that ran amok within the fenced yards. A smile bloomed on his lips as he stopped by one of the houses.
Two small boys were petting the hens. One boy was poking the chicken gently, asking, "QiQi, why don't you give us eggs? Come on, make an egg."
"Ah, don't poke her, or she will be stressed and cannot make eggs!" MingYu called, wanting to climb in to scold the children. But the boys didn't hear him. They didn't belong to the same time.
"Ah, eggs. Stop talking about food! I'm hungry!" Mang HuaJun complained as he dragged his feet after Xie Qiang. A look of disdain edged in his bright features.
"Brings back memories." PingZe had stopped beside MingYu, smiling at the scene. "I remember your hen, MeiMei, was so distressed by me and ZhiYi, she couldn't lay an egg for months."
