As he arrived at the island, ZhiYi was guided to wait by the main hall of the front house. The disciple had run off to fetch her sect leader, leaving ZhiYi to sit idly and wait, with plenty of time to look around.
Red pillars were embedded in gold, the raised carvings depicting blooming lotuses. Each vase and statue over the small tables and shelves within the room looked like they cost a fortune and then some. Chairs were carved into shapes of lotuses, illustrating different states of bloom.
But none of these priceless artefacts made ZhiYi bat an eye. He had lived long enough to have witnessed various rarities to pay them any attention. To him, they were worthless.
The true priceless things disappeared with time. Things he wanted to hold back from leaving him, but he could only watch them fade away, leaving only memories behind.
