My throat felt tight as I stared into the bonfire with Delilah hanging on my arm. Physically feeling Amaria walk away from me with tears in her eyes was a different kind of helplessness and my chest felt freezing cold from the lack of her heat. Having to sit here with someone else instead of her was killing me.
"I'll be right back," I stood up and went towards the general direction of the car. Finally finding it, I unlocked it and got inside, deciding to waste no time before ringing my best friend to ask for his advice. Andrew had always been more emotionally intelligent than me.
"What's up, man?"
"Problem," I sighed and rubbed my forehead. "I made her cry today."
Andrew snickered on the other end of the line and I could hear him patting the back of a cooing baby. "Well it's not like this would be the first time you've done that. What's different?"
