Chapter 5 - Prologue part 5 & Ch 1 part 1

Cedren: "Oh my, you are up before me today, my love. Must be the excitement of the hunt."

Nuvaro: "Oh yes, I'm always this way before a good hunt. But I also must make sure the other warriors stay on task before we all head out. The village hunt is important. Especially when we are having to re-up so much. I just got so caught up in the new sets of recruits and training, and with you there, helping, it became an easy thing to forget."

Cedren "I understand fully. What would you like me to do? Especially since we are so far out, I know a little help would be useful."

Nuvaro: "Since this is our first big hunt together, we are doing the first day in beast form. Make sure those who are on main guard today are properly equipped. While you do that, I'll make sure the placement strategy is followed after each warrior is equipped."

Cedren: "Sounds like a plan. I will get right on it."

I reached up giving him a soft biting kiss on his neck. He gave a wanting groan, before turning to head toward the weapons tent as he strode away. I spent the next few hours making sure each warrior was properly equipped and ready for whatever may happen. On his way back from a brief inspection, Nuvaro came up behind me wrapping my waist with his arm. He sniffed my neck again, growling into my ear. I leaned back into him as I looked back smiling. Meanwhile, the yet unknown person was watching us from a distance with clear superiority and jealousy. Looking at the two, she dug her nails into the side of a large stalk of bamboo each time a display of affection was spotted. As her nails chipped, she came to her senses, and her sense of misguided absolution keyed the sense of self perfection. "My nails must be perfect, my body must be perfect, I must be perfect." These whispers echoed in the silence as they continued with their yet unknown purpose.

Cedren: "If I wasn't used to you doing that already, and in front of some of the men, that might have startled me. So, are you done with your prep?"

Nuvaro: "Oh yes, everything is set, and it looks like the warriors are ready to set up their positions around camp and the hunting grounds. After lunch, we head out."

Cedren: "This is going to be so much fun for me. Our first massive scale hunt together with your clan this far out, it is a new area isn't it."

Nuvaro: "Yes, please stay reasonably close to me for your first hunt of this area, after today, I'll know how well we will work together in our beast form. It's always way more challenging than our current forms."

Cedren: "You don't have to worry about that. I will be close. I have no intention of veering extremely far. Besides, I'm not familiar with all the areas around your village just yet."

He smiled pulling me close once again. Wrapping me in his arms as we walked slowly to the lunch table. We all enjoyed our lunch while talking about various things. Mostly related to the hunt. Once lunch was finished, we got up and proceeded to head out promptly. Nuvaro shouted at everyone to make sure they stayed on point. As we had prepped ourselves to head out, the unknown person was once again watching from the shadows like a creepy stalker, fuming at the sight before them. Determined to keep watch on their every move. They stared on in silent rage as they hunting party was about to head out. Once again, as they had done so many times before, running their nails sharply down the tree they were standing beside. By this point, the tree was beginning to look as though an animal was favoring it.

Nuvaro: "Alright everyone, remember what we have already discussed. Check your weapons for those who are on guard and let us move out"

Cedren: "Alright, stay on point everyone. And let us pull in a lot for the village."

He then looked to the troops with a nod indicating he was ready. They immediately stood straight with gear checked and gave a curt nod back. I nodded sharply to my mate as I reverted to my beast form. I watched Suitor one follow suit. We stood side by side in our changed form. Ready to take on the hunt. My adrenaline was like it had never been before, filling me a newfound sense of hunger. The focus was so clear, and I could not wait to follow Nuvaro wherever he had planned to run. If it meant running to the ends of the earth and back.

Chapter One:

Standing next to my mate, I watched as he indicated the forward unit to head out and scout for possible enemies. Once the carrier bird came in, we knew it was clear to head out. We looked at each other, signaling we were ready and headed out. The unknown person still watching from the shadows, sitting quietly as they watched the two run off into the distance toward an area, they knew nothing about. Fuming at the very sight of the two looking so damn happy. It was almost bordering torturesome to themselves. Yet, they were clearly compelled to keep watching no matter the cost to themselves.

Nuvaro: "Now follow me, there is an area I would like to take you to first. It is important to me. I can finally take you now that the big hunt is on."

Cedren: (smiling brightly at the thought of him taking me to a place special to him) "Okay, I am excited now to see this place you prize so highly."

His top lip curled upwards in a toothy grin. Running down the path, me right on his heels, the air of a different land filled my senses. We must have run for miles before coming up to a clearing which showed the moon in all its full glory. I slowed up as we approached, mouth agape at the sight before me. I had never seen anything like it. I walked up beside my mate, sitting down, we looked up at the moon together. We spent quite some time leaning on each other as we looked up.

Nuvaro: "I often come to this clearing to clear my head. I always thought it was beautiful before. But with you here with me, it seems even more so now. I wonder why that is?"

Cedren: "I had no idea such a place could exist. The moon's view is incredible. I am so glad you shared this with me. You're right, it's a beautiful sight."

Nuvaro: "Don't worry, we'll come here again. Just wait and see."

Cedren: (I leaned on him a little harder as we gazed up at the moon together.) "I'll be looking forward to it."

We sat under the moon for a few more minutes, but we had to get moving, promising he would bring me back again. We got up and were off again. We finally managed to track down some nice size deer. Most of them seemed to be a minimum of two hundred pounds each. We made note of the area, going to the road, we both let out a loud roar, sending out our roars in a pattern with the location and proceeded to wait for the others to show. As we waited, we each took a side slowly pushing the stragglers of the herd back to the others. By the time we were done, we had managed to gather up roughly ten deer to be taken down. When the others arrived, Nuvaro indicated which ones we were going to take down and told them to take the rest out. As we got into our positions, we then indicated it was time and rushed in simultaneously as to not give them time to run, if at all. The warriors took out all but two, leaving them for us as we headed in for the kill. We took the remaining two down as if we had rehearsed a play. Both of our movements so in-sync that it could have been argued we hunted together all our lives.
