Chapter 60 - VICTIMS AND FALSE VICTIMS 10.6

After twenty minutes of doing their routines, they stepped out.

The hall was quiet and dark.

Not like Capricorn to be dark at all.

"How long till they forget?" Fina asked

Zo adjusted her bow before answering.

"Some days. But, I think after they are buried. If they get buried at all. The reaper-"

They halted slowly when they saw a grim reaper in complete black writing on a record book.

"They are unworthy?" She asked

The reaper was shocked they could see him and took a step back.

"Yes, they are. Only few are worthy" He said in a harsh voice.

"What does it mean to be unworthy or worthy?" Fina asked

"Never ask what's beyond your knowledge" The reaper said and disappeared.

"Not all are nice" Zo said

"We have etiquette. Do we really want to know anything about that?" Zo asked.

Fina shrugged as they made their way to the elevator.

They entered the lift and pressed the floor button.

The lift shook and stopped but the door didn't open.

"What's happening?" Zo asked

Fina moved to the door and banged on it.

As her eyes roamed the lift for any signs of being stuck, it stopped on something on the floor.

She stooped down but immediately came back up again.

"What is it?" Zo asked and her eyes widened.

There, at a corner, in the lift, lie a bloodied cut finger with a note attached on it. Anyone could have missed it but the lift had stopped for this purpose.

So, they could see it.

Zo backed slowly away while Fina carefully took the note.

"How do you like my gift? I thought it had be stronger, but you were saved by Walker. How disappointing. Hallucinating is the best thing when you seeks madness.

Welcome to our world.

The note vanished when she was done.

"I think the person was behind it. What did Walker gave you?" Zo asked

Fina shook her head just as the lift opens.

"I don't know" She replied

When they stepped out of the lift, it was like nothing had happened at all.

As if two students hadn't just died in the School.

Everywhere was bubbly as students dashed around.

"Fina!" Talon shouted

He ran over to them and did a happy dance.

"What happened?" Fina asked

Talon face lit up. "You haven't heard? We are going to be having our dinner together from now on. Everyone is commanded to come. If not attended, you will be punished"

Fina and Zo glanced at each other.

"They said it was tradition before before the Queen canceled it. She forbade the gathering."

"So, what changed?" Fina asked

"She wants everyone to be familiar with each other. Since class keeps everyone busy, it will be an opportunity to get to relax with one another"

Fina turned to see Xavier behind her.

Zo blushed the color of a tomato.

"What happened to you? Are you okay?" Talon asked, touching Zo's cheeks.

Zo glared at him and slapped his hands away.

Fina cleared her throat and turned back to Xavier who was dressed in a blue and white strip Cardigan with white jeans and was looking at them with an amused expression.

"I think it's better if we all just move on our own separate ways" Shelly said

They didn't even realize she was near them.

"Why?" Xavier asked

Because, someone wants to stop us from finding the book- Fina thought

"You know, we don't have to use points to eat dinner. How cool is that?" Talon asked excitedly.

"Just. It's complicated. What happened to the body?" Fina asked

Xavier and Talon both looked confused.

"What body? Who died?" Xavier asked

Fina swallowed hard.

"No one. I just had a bad dream" Fina said

The boys weren't confused.

"What's going on here?" Tyrell asked

Tyrell, Kit and Bryce walked to them.

"Hey." Tyrell said to Fina.

"Hey"

He looked tired as if he haven't slept for days and Fina found herself wanting to ask. She hadn't fufilled her promise to meet him at the library either.

She wanted to tell him everything but held back because she knew Shelly didn't like him. Whatever happened that made her hate him suddenly bemused her.

She just hated him.

Tyrell, Jessica Young. Both are on Shelly's hate list.

Shelly pulled Fina to her, not even bothering to greet others.

"Sorry, but we have class."

She dragged Fina and Zo away then glared at Talon.

Talon excused himself and followed like a puppy.

How she managed to do that bemused Fina.

When they were out of hear shot, Shelly turned to them.

"I really don't want us interacting with them, Fina. I do like Xavier but I don't know others nor do I want to know them. Not because of him but this is when we really have to be careful. What if it's one of the Seniors? Have you thought about it before? Like, they are the best students. Don't you get it?" Shelly asked.

Fina has thought about it. Countless times. But she had pushed the thought away anytime it tries to resurface.

Tyrell was the closest to her.

Will it be good if you doubt the one who seems to be the closest to you in guiding you?

Talking of guiding…

Mt Walker had asked if she had done any strong spells lately and the only strong spells she had done was Sentimincus.

Tyrell had taught her the spell but could it be?...

No. He cared enough to break school rules to save her.

She had slept like a baby's when she did it but the dreams had came back ten times worse.

"Your face gives the impression that you are doubting someone. Tyrell?" Shelly asked

"I don't understand. What's going on here?" Talon asked

They had already forgotten he was here.

"Two students died yesterday. Lia Mason and Beau Harrison" Shelly said.

Talon laughed but quickly sobered up when he realized none of them was laughing.

"The school would know" He said

"What about your girlfriend, Talon? Do you remember her?" Fina asked

"I don't have a girlfriend." He said

"This is worse." Zo said, pulling her hair in a ponytail like Fina's.

"What's worse?" Talon asked. "What are you guys not telling me?"

"We'll tell you soon." Fina said

Miss Lala Slayer beamed at them as they walked into etiquette class.

The glass wall in the room was totally golden and it looked like they have stepped into another world.

Three tall fountains stood magnificently in the middle of the room, golden water pouring forth from its mouth.

White rose flowers floated smoothly in the water.

The windows were tall and wide, giving an excellent view of their outer environment.

Golden chairs, tables, floor mats and different accessories decorated the room.

Lala stepped forward in her purple sleeveless long gown with two slits at the sides and her white sneakers.

"Hello." She greeted, wrapping her hands together in front of her.

"We meet again" She said "Today lesson will be about balance"

Students groaned from every sides.
