"You have a sister?" Han asked.
"Yeah, she's back at home though. So y'all probably won't ever see her." They all looked at me strangely but said nothing.
"Okay, kick with you fe—what are you doing?"
I was trying to teach Patora how to swim. We were in shallow water, but deep enough for her to practice in. The water lapped against my waist as I pulled her.
"Kicking, like you said."
"That's not how you kick! Where have you seen anything kick like that?"
"Frogs."
"... Patora... are you really an Elf?" I asked, my eyebrow twitching.
"What?! Why do you say that! And don't look at me like I'm some idiot. Of course I'm an Elf. My wisdom goes beyond anything you will ever achi—h-hey! Don't let go of me! I'll drown!"
"You're so smart, figure it out," I began letting go of her hands.
"I'm sorry! I promise I won't act like that again! Just don't let go!"
"Okay. Okay," I sighed. "And stop kicking like that, kick like that," I nodded my head towards Sora who was freestyle swimming.
"Okay...," her ears lowered as she began kicking.
"Oh, by the way, Patora," I was still holding her hands as I spoke.. "What made you become an adventurer? I hear most Elf's choose to live peaceful lives, becoming house wives or get jobs that they specialize in." She looked up at me, still kicking.
'My mother was killed by a monster that attacked our village a few years ago. I was still a child, so when I lost her, it was hard. Not just for me, but my father too." Her ears dropped down. "It was hard for him to lead the village and try to rebuild what was damaged. I wasn't stupid, so I stayed out of his way. One day a women appeared and she helped rebuild the village until it was done. She was strange, so one day after the village was done being rebuilt, I approached her. She never told me her name, but she gave me the crossbow I have and told me 'One day you will find someone like me, and you will journey with them. Until that day, you must get stronger.'" Her story ended.
"I'm sorry," my head had hung low near the middle of her story. I felt sorry for even asking.
"Don't be," she smiled. "Because of that, I met you, and I'm happy for that."
"Oh? Well, what about the adventurer this woman spoke of? You are supposed to journey with them."
"Idiot. I'm pretty sure she meant you."
"Me? No, she said someone like her, didn't she?"
"Yes, and you remind me a lot of her. You have the same aura around you as she did, though you have a rotten look in your eyes all the time. Her eyes were like the stars."
"Well look at that," I had ignored her statement. I had let go of her hands a while ago and she was still afloat.
"Hey! Look! I did it! I'm swimming!"
Now that Patora could swim on her own, I decided to do some swimming of my own.
I swim scissor kick style, which was how I was taught by my father.
I made my way back towards the middle of the lake where I intercepted Sora, again.
"Hey, Kichi," she waved at me.
"Yo," I waved back as I slowed down to a stop and kicked to stay afloat. We were rather close to each other, but I tried not to let the get to me.
"It's pretty out here, isn't it?" She looked around as she asked the question. Her blue eyes shun brighter than the lake as sunlight hit them. It made her look ten times prettier.
"Yeah, it is," I said, never taking my eyes of her. Her gaze turned to mine and I quickly looked away.
"How deep do you think the lake is?" She asked as she looked down.
My gaze followed hers.
It was impossible to see the lake bottom, it blacked out about half way through.
"No idea," I said as I started to get a feeling of unease. It wasn't because I was worried about a monster or anything. No. What scared me was that darkness. A place where sunlight doesn't reach.
"I kinda wanna test how deep down I can go bef-"
"Nope," I yanked her hair before she even finished.
You'd have to be stupid to try something like that. And knowing Sora, she'd try and reach the bottom like it was some competition and end up drowning.
"Ow! Don't be so rough with me, Kichi."
"Why are you saying it like that?!"
I let go of her hair as she spoke seductively. There was no way I was getting dragged into something weird again.
Sora simply smiled as she said: "Aww, don't be like that, I was joking." She started to laugh softly.
Her laugh had a sort of charm to it, and I found myself rolling my eyes with a small chuckle.
"You're stupid," I said, only making her laugh more.
EXTRA QUEST
Quest details: Kiss Sora
Reward: All stats increased by 50
Seriously...
I literally just told myself I wouldn't get myself into any more weird scenarios, yet there it was in my HUD.
An extra quest that could increase my stats, in return for kissing the girl in front of me.
It's a win-win, in terms of accomplishments. But if I did this, it could create a whole scene! Yeah, there was no way I was going to do th—
A soft sensation I'd felt before pressed against my lips while another pressed against my chest.
Yep, no doubt about it. Another weird scenario.
