Sylvia was riding up the elevator to her father's room and she knew there was trouble. "Father, I had a very valid reason not to reveal him to others. I was afraid that his power would turn him into a lab rat because it was so world-defying. I was trying to protect him until he got strong enough to protect himself." explained Sylvia.
"Well, congratulations. You have succeeded in such an endeavor. Kain is now strong enough that he could probably level all of Bastion single-handedly. No one can make him a guinea pig now." said a smiling Tyrin.
"Wait..What? What did Kain do?" asked a stunned Sylvia.
Tessa merely waved her hand and a holographic video appeared in the middle of the room. It was a recorded segment of a news report from last night. A reporter appeared on the screen and began speaking.
"We are here to bring you breaking news regarding the Dominius faction. They have officially disbanded and have merged into the Lavaris faction. Many are confused as to how such a dominant faction would be willing to merge with another faction. Here with us tonight is a military spokesperson who wants to send out a message." said the reporter.
"I am primarily here to warn all the factions on the Council that the military will not tolerate any other infighting between factions. The military will institute a moratorium on infighting and any faction that initiates conflict will have to bear the full weight and fury of the military's retribution. At the same time, I would like to send out another warning to a certain individual who was responsible for the downfall of Dominius." said the military spokesperson.
Looking directly into the camera, the spokesperson continued in a no-nonsense tone, "Don't think for one second that the military is a pushover like Dominius. If you continue to push our buttons, we will show you why we are the true power in Bastion. So, tread lightly and keep your head down if you know what's good for you."
"Please, can you identify this individual?" asked the reporter.
"No further comments." said the spokesperson.
The video ended after that line. Tessa spoke up after she waved away the video.
"Kain was the one responsible for demolishing Dominius. He killed Gerris and Pestilence, captured Famine, and sentenced Felgin to death. The elites of the opposing factions were routed. Now, you will tell us what you know about Kain so that we can better negotiate with him. We wish to know how he was able to get so strong. First of all, tell us what his 'world-defying power' is.
Sylvia was still trying to grasp how Kain had gotten so strong, so fast. She snapped out of it and answered Tessa in a matter of fact manner.
"Kain's main ability is absorption. He can absorb the powers of others permanently. Not only that, he can gift the powers he steals to others. He has the ability to create multiple power users. I suspect he has gained secondary abilities for his main power, now that he has improved his strength so drastically. I do not even know his full capabilities, especially after hearing how he thrashed Dominius single-handedly."
A pin-drop silence pervaded throughout the room after Sylvia finished her words. Tyrin, Aleria, and Tessa had their mouths hanging to the floor from their shock. After a few seconds of silence, Tyrin finally spoke.
"We must go and speak with Kain. We must do everything possible to have him enroll in Taria Academy. If the military learns of this and poaches him into their Grandia Academy, we would never be strong enough to oppose the military. Sylvia, I will forgive you if you can convince Kain to join Taria academy. Let's go over to your house right now."
"I thought Kain was at the War Consortium in Death's room." said Tessa.
"It was confirmed that his clone is the one sleeping in Death's room. We had our detection specialists confirm that the real Kain flew off. We tracked his flight to where he is currently staying, which happens to be a mansion that I had gifted to my daughter. It looks like I will have to question her about her relationship with Kain when we get there." said Aleria.
Seeing that it was inevitable for Kain to engage in a meeting with everyone here, Sylvia notified them of the void emblem to the house. They all promptly followed Sylvia to Saya's room at Taria Academy.
Sylvia could only hope that Kain was not caught in a compromising situation when they arrived.
