I smiled when I heard the wolf howl in the distance. It was as if Dakota were telling me that he was fine and that he would see me later. I darted into the bathroom, looking forward to the indulgence of a shower. After being out in the wild for days, there was something to be said for modern conveniences.
After adjusting the water temperature until it was hot, I stripped down and quickly stepped into the shower. My bathroom only had a shower stall, not a tub, but when the water rushed over my body, it was heaven. I showered, but stood in the water until it ran cold, relishing the luxury. Finally, I turned it off, wrapped a towel around myself, and stepped onto the cold tile floor. I looked into the mirror and my straight brown hair was a mess, but a faint pink glow lit my cheeks. I quickly pulled a brush through my hair and walked out of the bathroom at my leisure, then started thumbing through my clothes, deciding what to wear.
