Cameron Li is the current CEO of Menghai, he's a well-known figure. His face was shown on TV, newspaper, and magazine. He's the youngest and the most handsome in the business world. Everyone knew him. His past was a mystery to most people, he doesn't like to talk about it. Only his assistant knew. Cameron's dark past followed him to this day, although he looked normal on the outside, he still harbored trauma from the time Melissa left him.
Melissa was his first love and childhood friend, they were inseparable. To this day, he still believed Melissa was still alive. He missed her smile and lively personality. She was the only one who knew his heart. Melissa healed him on the inside when he was abused by his relatives.
Cameron woke up with tears in his eyes, it was that dream again. The past he couldn't forget. Oh, he must've slept on his desk again, his work mounted up for the past couple of days and he barely slept. His assistant, Mai Ke, came in after knocking on the door, "Boss, I'm sorry to interrupt. Your step-brother wanted to meet you. He's waiting outside." Cameron took a deep sigh and furrowed his brows. He forced himself to be awake and went outside to meet with him . Unfortunately, he didn't want to. It was his step brother, Luke. Luke was younger than Cameron by five years. Luke came back from London, United Kingdom after studying business abroad. His personality haven't changed at all. He was still self-conceited, no wonder his parents favored him. Cameron's mother remarried after his father passed away.
Luke was proud of his achievement and showed off all of his awards he got, Cameron was uninterested in the conversation so he backed off a bit, "I'm still busy. What do you want?" Cameron asked coldly. He wasn't feeling well at all but Luke kept on talking about his time in England. Luke scoffed and laughed, "Wow, I just came back and you treated like this. No wonder your mother won't even consider you as her son." Cameron was feeling faint then closed his eyes. He told himself he was alright but his body wouldn't listen to him. Mai Ke came out just in time and held onto Cameron.
"Boss, let's go in. You look pale." Mai Ke looked at Luke then shook his head. What kind of step brother is he? Mai Ke didn't think that much, he only thought of Cameron. Luke smirked and stepped back, "Remember to take care of yourself. I wouldn't want to go to your funeral. You're still the same as before, oh I meant your head problem." Luke walked away leaving Mai Ke and Cameron together.
Mai Ke held on to Cameron in case he faints, they went up the elevator then back to their office where it was all quiet with no interruption. Cameron laid on the sofa without thinking. He wanted to sleep but he couldn't. He was afraid Melissa's corpse will show up in his dreams again. Mai Ke made some hot tea for Cameron, he was hoping Cameron can get a good rest after drinking tea.
Rest was never in Cameron's dictionary. He can't rest, he had to work.
"Melissa..." Cameron covered his eyes with his right arm while laying on the sofa. Mai Ke was feeling useless so he organized Cameron's desk. There were papers and books everywhere. Suddenly, a photo dropped onto the floor, it was a photo of a girl and Cameron. Mai Ke was scratching his head wondering who she was (he never saw Melissa's photo, Cameron only talked about her) then Cameron took the photo from Mai Ke's hand. Cameron's expression remained expressionless. Mai Ke nearly had a heart attack and stepped back, "Boss, I'm sorry. I thought you were asleep." Cameron sighed and answered him, "This is Melissa, my first love. People told me she died but I don't believe she passed away ." Cameron didn't want to elaborate too much so he asked Mai Ke to help him with something.
"Mai Ke, bring those papers to me." Mai Ke brought the papers to Cameron in a hurry, he doesn't want to get fired for being so clumsy.
Cameron sat down with Mai Ke as they discussed monthly reports. All of the reports were well done so Cameron made an announcement to all of the employees saying the company will pay for a special week cruise to Bali, Indonesia since Christmas will be coming soon. Other loyal customers are also welcome to join with ticket discounts. When all of the employees read their email, they were ecstatic because this is the first time the CEO will be willing to pay for all of the employees.
Mai Ke was excited on the inside but he was trying not to be too obvious, then Cameron looked at Mai Ke with a curious expression, "Are you okay? Why are you so jittered?" Mai Ke looked back at Cameron with a nervous laughter, "Thank you, Boss. This is the first time. Thank you. I still have to work on something. Call me if you need anything." Mai Ke ran awkwardly because he was still afraid of Cameron's cold expressionless face. Cameron smiled and shook his head.
Cameron took out the photo and stared at it for a long time, he closed his eyes and sighed. How he wished Melissa was still by his side, he really needed her. He got up and looked out of the window, "Melissa, I believe you won't leave me. Where are you?"
