The salty breeze from the ocean filled my lungs as we reached the pier. The distant ring of the ship's bell echoed, while a sleek mahogany vessel pulled away from the dock, its sails catching the evening wind.
"We're here," Neal announced, hopping down from the wagon and making his way toward one of the captains.
I stretched, feeling the satisfying crack of my joints as I gazed out over the bustling pier. Dockhands moved like ants, hauling crates and securing ropes. The air was thick with the scent of brine as the sun sank lower, casting everything in warm, golden light.
"We'll be taking the next ship," Neal called, pointing to a large vessel docked nearby. "We can only bring one wagon. Let's use mine."
