Me and Mom walked back into the house to tell Dad the good news about my magic lesson.
"Touyaaa?" My mom yelled.
Five seconds pass.
"Huh, looks like he's not inside..." Mom muttered.
"Is there something wrong Mom?" I asked.
"Well, your Dad isn't home right now, which is rare at this time of day." Mom said. "Hmmm. Well, let's not think too much about it! It's probably just a work call from the guild."
Mom walked up to the kitchen counter and pulled some materials out.
"Just sit right there, okay?" Mom gestured to the dining table. "I'll whip up a few snacks to eat while we wait for your Dad to come home."
"Okay!" I said. Mom always made the best snacks.

Once the snacks were prepared, we began to have a little chat about my progression in magic.
"Let's see...what spells have you learned again?" Mom said.
"Here, I'll pull up my spell list" I said. "Status"
An interface appears in front of me. I click the 'Spells' tab and make it viewable to Mom.

- Empower (Lvl 1): Grant a small boost in ATK and STR for 10 minutes. Cost: 10% of total MP
- Cure Wounds (Lvl 1): Heal a small bit of HP to the target that scales based on time spent concentrating. Cost: 5% of total mana every 2 seconds
- Bind (Lvl 1): Binds a target in place, locking their actions for a brief moment. Cost: 20% of total MP
- Elemental Ball (Lvl 1): Create a sphere of elemental-based mana. Cost: 10% of total MP
- Elemental Shackles (Lvl 1): Create a rope of mana that is thrown to immobilize a target. Can be imbued with an element to create varying effects. Cost: 50% of total MP

"Hmm, this seems about right." Mom said. "Looks like I've got to teach you about mana cancelling."
"Mana cancelling? That sounds kind of overpowered." I said, eyebrows raised.
"It's really not haha." Mom said. "Mana cancelling is when two opposing spells hit each other with equal force and complexity and essentially cancel each other out. It takes a lot of knowledge to know how to cancel someone else's magic."
"I see...I still don't really get it haha." I said.
"It's fine if you don't get it now, you will learn later on what it can do." Mom said with a smile. "For now just focus on improving your magic, okay?"
"Okay, got it Mo-"
𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘨!
A loud explosion could be heard outside.
"What?! What was that?!" I said.
Mom immediately readied her tome. "Stay inside Rin, I'll go see what's going on."
'I feel ominous mana coming from the mountains....Touya....I hope you're safe' Hina thought to herself.
Hina rushed outside the house. Looking in the direction of the mountains, she could see a large plume of smoke rise from the treeline.
'No...it can't be. It's too early for this!' Hina thought.
She began to run towards the mountains. Time was ticking now.

'Oh, I hope Mom and Dad aren't in any trouble...' I thought.
'System'
[You called, user?]
'System, what is going on right now? Is my Dad over there?'
[It appears that this is a timed event, user]
'Timed event? What do you mean?'
[In the town of Vorka, there is an event that comes by every ten years or so called a 'Raid Event']
'What, so you're telling me that loud tremor was a boss-like monster?'
[Precisely, user. Although, I don't think this monster was supposed to come for another 2 years. Something must have happened to stimulate this, and I'm not sure myself why it may have occurred.]
'Okay...then how much trouble is my Mom and Dad going to be in?'
[I would say....𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨....a 70% fatality rate.]
'WHAT?! Okay, I need to help them, NOW!'
[I would advise against that, user. If you participate now, you will most likely just be holding them back.]
'No, I have to go! I don't want to lose my Mom and Dad....not again!'

I hurriedly grabbed a small short sword and potions.
'Alright System, lead the way'
