That appearance... Darn, there is no way I could be mistaken. Within Cain village, dirty brown or hazel hair was the prevalent hair color. Hell, even I myself has long hazel hair that fell to the front of my right shoulder in a simple braid.
The only one with golden hair and those eyes was my friend. Ray...
...
WHAT BULLSHIT IS THIS???
I squinted my eyes. Rubbed them and leaned a bit further in which made the girl grow redder with shame. She was frozen in the spot. Like a deer under the headlights.
And thankfully... The magic censorship power of the gods was there to shield my eyes from nudity. I can't see her figure clearly thanks to the thick, white fog that was enveloping the girl. Looking at her again. I could feel a headache coming.
No way... No way... No matter how much I try to change my perspective... All I see is Ray with long hair but looking much cuter like a doll.
I should've been more careful. This sort of anime cliche is still applicable to games huh? Reverie why?
Welp... Time to employ my number one secret technique.
Smiling and edging closer to the side of the lake. After successfully nabbing my clothes, a farewell was in place. "I'm... Just going to go back home and sleep."
Run. Don't hesitate. Just run! Far away! Run and forget this stupid night!
This! Never! Happened!
As I turned and dashed to flee. I could hear fast footsteps approaching. The crinkling of dried up fallen leaves resembled crunching noises that were actually scary. It sounded as if a beast was feasting on bones behind me. And it was rushing towards me.
Darn... The sound is getting closer!
I'm too slow! No... Ray's just fast as fuck!
A girl's shrill cry echoed through the silent night. But it sounded deep and manly. And full of rage.
"GET OVER HERE!"
CRIPES! Sporpio have mercy!
Thack! Something Something Something came whistling through the air and out of pure instinct driven by fear, I ducked and continued running.
Run Dominic. Ignore the weird glowing sword that just outright pierced through two thick trees before stopping.
"Dominic I hate you!"
"I'm sorry! Forgive this transgression!" Praying for all the gods to save me. Tears nearly fell from my eyes.
I'm just a side character! Don't hit me!
Without stopping nor caring how my stamina bar was being depleted by increments of 1 per few minutes, I just kept sprinting. Sprinting, twisting, and turning sideways.
Until I came to a wall formed by toppled trees. No way...
The trees. The trees in the Twin forest were tall. Be it oak or pine trees. They stood at an average minimum of 18 feet tall and their trunks are thick. And they only grow taller upon heading deeper inside the forest.
Before me laid dozens of trees. They didn't fall over due to soil erosion. No... They all lay broken. Snapped like twigs under a child's cruel hands.
This place isn't safe... Not at all...
I have to get Ray out of here. Knowing him. Uhh her... She's bound to get in trouble due to that rash nature of hers.
"Ray! We're in trouble!" Turning to my friend turned girl. What greeted me was a blushing little girl wearing pure white clothes. A T-shirt and some shorts. In her hands was a sword.
And it looked stupid. Stupidly overdesigned.
A double-edged sword with the blade shining bright in stellar lights. As if the metal used in the forging process came from out of this world. The hilt was made out of fine gold. Looking like a dragon that arrogantly looked down on the mundane world.
This is stupid... And I'm envious. When can I get a cool weapon like that?
Hold Up... She's coming closer.
Ray's eyes are glowing... Glowing white.
"Dominic..." She muttered underneath her breath. That cute face of hers pouting a little before blushing more. Then Ray glared at me. That glare sending chills down my spine.
"Prepare for judgment!"
"Ray! It's not safe here let's leave!"
"You're the one whose not safe from ME!"
She's not listening to reason! Time for my other super secret move!
Dominic Slam!
Abandoning all sense of self-preservation. I took off my shirt and rushed at Ray who was too shocked to react and tackled her to the ground. Ray tried to struggle free but I held her down firmly and leaned my face closer with that dreamy look in my eyes.
Effectively making her faint.
Good. Sleep for now ray. And as for what happened tonight... I'll forget about it. Ray is Ray no matter what. Girl, boy. It doesn't matter.
"Heheh... You're stupid Ray... No matter how much you change you'll still be foolish and naive to me." I carried ray on my back and glanced towards the fancy sword embedded on the ground.
Rubbing my hands together. I grasped the hilt and smiled pervertedly. Ha... Such a cool sword. Even if it's Ray's it's alright if I swing it a little right? Right right. It ain't like I'm gonna steal it or something. I just want to test it.
I grasped the hilt. Giggling a little before trying to lift it up...
Eh... It's too heavy is it not?
Trying again. I tried lifting with all my might. I've gained more strength since I discovered the healing-exercise loophole.
I gripped the sword tighter and tighter. To the point, my knuckles started issuing popping sounds and the color of my hand became pale from the pressure. I could feel my arms shivering but I didn't give up... I just want to lift this thing and be done with it.
If I want to do something. Then I'll do that something. If I say I'll do a thing. Then I'll do a thing.
A man should be straightforward and honest. Deception must only be used against enemies.
"Nghh!" Grunting. The sword moved a little. Making my eyes sparkle.
Ohhhh!!! Since this sword is from Ray, the main character (Main NPC) and I'm able to move it. Doesn't that mean I am a main character too?
Rejoice! But where is my godly cheat though?
On second thought...
Meh... I could do well without it. I may be obsessed with violence or growing muscle but at least I have brains and balls. Suck that typical impotent male fictional main characters!
Amidst my self-delusion. I failed to see the sword glowing dangerously bright. The light bathed me in its radiance and it felt... It felt heavy. My arms sagged a little as the extra weight started pressuring me onto the ground.
Crack! The ground underneath me cracked slightly.
What the hell? This sword is high tech! It has an anti-theft magical function!
"You're not worthy..." A low dragon's growl shook from the annals of my mind. So it has a soul inside it huh...
What do you mean I'm not worthy? Well... I do understand since I'm not Ray who has a cheat that I don't know about yet... But I got sucked into a videogame! That should have some merits no?
Come on magic blade! At least let me wave you a little and topple some trees over! Plus I have to take you with me! Ray is unconscious and if she loses you then she's gonna cry!
"You aren't worthy." The pressure intensified along with the voice booming louder.
My mind feel weird and hazy. As if I'm treading a fine line between awake and not awake.
The pressure. The pain rising in me and the drain on my stamina did not discourage me in the slightest. I kept on battling the sword. Not willing to give up trying to lift it up.
And it changed...
"I already have a master..." The dragon's growling voice became a little more pleasant now. Well, that's an improvement.
[Your Willpower has risen by 1 point]
Heh... Bloody knew it. I know a divine cheat weapon when I see it. And usually, it would have a broken soul residing within it. If I wasn't Ray's friend then I guess this sword would've blasted me into oblivion.
Invariable attributes... No matter how much you level up they would not budge in the slightest. And they give special effects too. Though they can be raised through certain actions or encounters. But the chance is rare. Rarer than a legendary class.
Charm makes it easy to get laid. If you pair max charm which is 10/10 with a bard who is an expert at courtship. Rest assured. That bard would already be drowning in p*ssy or abs. Whatever floats their boat I guess.
Intelligence help in learning new things. It's useful for mages to learn and be able to level up their magic skills faster.
Luck... Influences your fate. And about my -1 luck...
I don't want to talk about it.
As for willpower... This thing is useful. It allows you to be able to do what you want and stick to it with dedication. Maybe... Maybe if I find a way to get it to the max... Maybe even if I am at death's door, I could keep rejecting it. And even if it isn't maxed it could help with ignoring some status effects.
But that is an issue for the future. For now... I have to get Ray out of here.
I picked up Ray. Carried her on my back and picked up the sword which probably has a long-ass name that I do not know off.
Time to leave this place. Those trees... The only thing strong enough to cause such damage is either one of the two Lizardman Chieftains. Or a powerful monster.
Better be safe than sorry.
I ran off while checking my stats.

These stats... They're trash. Stronger than the usual well-rounded base stats of 10 in all attributes for a normal human adult.
But this is Reverie... A place full of swords and magic. A place where strength is necessary to safeguard yourself from monsters and even your own race.
I am weak. I have no cheat. And I am not born special. Just a regular NPC that is the friend of one of the main character type NPCs who have stupid cheats.
But I have a brain. A brain that can be used to think and plan ten steps ahead. Along with willpower.
I won't complain. I am blessed for what I have. And so. I will keep working hard. Harder than anyone else to ensure my safety. Because if I were to die...
I only have myself to blame for not thinking good enough.
