As the days passed, so too did the seasons. Nothing changed inside of Tunir's smithy, but today he got the urge to set up shop outside in the town square. He has no idea why, but he is feeling rather jovial today. Tunir even dressed up in a red and white suit with a red and white hat!
"Merry Cold day!" Tunir would shout every five minutes. He has no idea what "cold day" is, but considering all the roads were covered in snow now, he assumed it had something to do with that.
As Tunir was sitting at his newly set up stall at the town square, a player ran up to him.
"Hello Mr. Cold Day! I would like to participate in the event game!" He asked.
Event? What's tha-
"Alright! Take three of these snowballs and pelt 3 different players with them! If you do this, you get a prize!" Tunir interrupted his own inner monologue to say.
"Alright!" The player shouted as he took three snowballs from Tunir. A speech bubble appeared over the players head.
"So this event gives a mount?"
In response, a nearby player had another speech bubble appear over their head.
"Yeah, it's called the 'cold day driver' and it's total rng. There's only a 1% chance of dropping so you need to do this daily." The players' speech bubble read out as they were pelted with snowballs.
A mount? Rng? Why would Tunir give out a mount? He's never even ridden a horse in his life!
The player quickly returned after they had finished pelting 3 players.
"Alright! I did the job!" The player declared.
"Good job! Take this and happy holidays!" Tunir automatically announced. He handed the player a small box with a question mark on it.
The player happily took the box and pushed in on the question mark. Lights began to glow from the seams of the box for a moment before it finally burst open and revealed the item that had been inside. It was a dark tophat that was made of a fantastic material. Tunir was impressed by the make of this apparel and knew that a wealthy person would pay a lot to get something this nice.
"Ugh! I got a trash drop!" Appeared above the player.
"Lmao, it's a 1% drop chance so you gotta grind the quest. It resets every 12 hours." Another player had appear over her head.
"I saw the mount on the ingame store though for 10 bucks! I think this is just a grind fest for pay to win."
"Excuse me." Tunir interrupted. The players jumped in surprise and turned towards him. "What exactly are you two talking about?"
"We want the mount drop from your quest."
"I have no idea what any of that means."
"Well yeah, you're just an NPC."
Tunir had no idea what an NPC was, but he didn't like being brushed off for being one of them so he got angry.
"So in other words, you're at my mercy." Tunir angrily stated.
The two players went silent neither of them wanted to lose access to the questline.
"Hmph. I see that you've wisened up!" Tunir shouted as he gave a large toothy grin. His time was finally here.
"What do you want us to do?" The female player asked.
"Well… It's cold. Find something to warm me up." Tunir muttered.
A brown screen appeared in front of both of the players and it read "Emergency quest!"
The players looked at one another and happily ran off. Tunir was about to smile in happiness before something happened.
A multitude of players ran up to him and began to accept the emergency quest at the same time. Soon, Tunir was bombarded with jackets, hats, gloves, torches, campfires, and hand warmers. He felt like he was going to melt.
A speech bubble appeared over one of the players.
"Dude this quest has infinite uses! This has gotta be a glitch!"
Tunir read what the player had said and knew what to do.
"Quest over!" He shouted. A brown screen appeared in front of every player in the area and read out the words "Quest completed!"
The objects that Tunir had accumulated through the players all disappeared instantly. Now Tunir was cold once more. Before he could sulk, a friend of Tunir that was dressed in a green suit and was adorned with a multitude of bells approached him.
"Hello Mr. Cold Day! Are you ready for the event?" They asked.
"Yes! Let the event begin!" Tunir automatically replied.
Behind Tunir, a multitude of fireworks went off. The sound frightened Tunir as he dropped to the ground to avoid being hurt.
"What is going on Tunir? I am dressed like some elf!" The man shouted.
"I don't know!" He replied.
Players began to approach both Tunir and his green suited friend and began to ask about an "event quest."
"So I just need to kill 3 snow spiders?"
"Yes. They're dreadful things that are sapping the world of holiday cheer! Please help us, hero!" The green suited man pleaded.
The player ran off towards the town gate and the next player approached and asked the same questions as the previous hundred before them. Tunir wanted to decline these players so he could have peace, but the words weren't coming out. This is not even metaphorical. Tunir literally couldn't tell the players to leave him alone. He's quite disturbed.
Eventually, the sun had begun to set and the sky was dark. Players stopped approaching Tunir to ask for a quest and now he was disassembling his stall at the town square.
"Foo…" Tunir exhaled. Today was far more exhausting than any other day so far. He misses his forge.
For no reason in particular, Tunir looked to the sky and saw a sight to behold.
"Ho ho ho!" He heard it come from the sky. A sleigh that was pulled by what looked like reindeer flew over his head. What a strange sight.
"Well… At least tomorrow I'll be back at the forge!" Tunir said to himself.
The next day, the event continued on and Tunir was forced to partake once more. This went on for the next fortnight.
