"That is enough of that Jake. Now Seth, I think it is best if we had a little chat." Said Apollo.
I nodded and stood up brushing the dirt off my pants. Jake gave me a snarl and stomped away cursing underneath his breath.
We walked into the main building and into Apollo's office. I have never been in here, the only time someone really comes in here is if they are in trouble.
"Take a seat." Said Apollo.
Still silent, I sat on the small sofa while Apollo eyed me down. "Tell me what happened." He said getting straight to the point.
"Well, we encountered Khione in a cave and her heart was frozen so Rital had to absorb it and she kinda died for a minute but I thawed her heart with fire and now she is in a coma." I blurted out. I realized how I ranted and hung my head down.
Apollo stayed silent comprehending what I said. "How did she not turn to ashes?" He finally asked.
"I don't know. It was so weird what happened." I said.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Well the fire spiraled around her body like in a magic movie." I replied.
"Are you sure that is the case? It seems there isn't something you are telling me."
"Well I spared a lot of the detail-"
"No, I mean what happened with the fire."
"Wait..." I stuttered. "You think I did that on purpose."
"I didn't say that. I just think it is unusual what happened. It is extremely rare for anyo-"
"Apollo!" A demigod yelled bursting in. He soon realized we were in the middle of an important conversation. "Um... sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt but Kelly and Kendric are back!"
"I forgot to tell you that." I said standing up.
"This conversation isn't over Seth." Apollo said jogging out of the room.
I already knew Kelly and Kendric were alive me well so I went back to check on Rital and the state she was in.
I creaked the door open to her private room and saw Jake siting at the edge of her bed holding her hand while Evan was watching over her. She was no longer in the ice bath, and she was in a fresh pair of clothing.
I was confused why Jake was holding her hand and anger and jealousy started to boil up inside me. She told me nothing was going on between them in the cave me stayed at yet he is holding her hand.
Flames started to dance on my fingertips but I pushed it away and walked in the room. It wasn't the time to get upset with her or Jake.
Evan and Jake's eyes darted to me giving me a snarl. I sat on a chair next to Rital's bed and looked at her malnourished cheeks. Her condition looked like it was getting worse and I couldn't help but feel guilt towards her. The blisters have only healed a little. Her skin was so severely damaged that I was afraid they wouldn't heal. A tear rolled down my cheek and Evan glanced at me with a small sincere look. He looked down and then back at Rital. My body began to shake and I curled up like a child looking at her.
The nurse walked in with some ice and set it next to her and gave us a warm smile. "Wow. Rital has won many hearts." She chuckled and poured the ice into the ice bath.
Evan, Jake, and I exchanged confused looks and Jake stood up releasing her hand. "We should go guys. She has a long evening ahead of her."
Evan and I nodded in agreement and we exited out of the room leaving her alone and lifeless. I still wanted to spend more time in the room with her. I would spend the whole night there if the nurse wouldn't make me leave.
When we got out of the medical wing all the campers were walking towards the mess hall for the seafood dinner they were serving tonight.
Evan and Jake walked ahead of me joining the crowd and I ran back to the medical wing and into the room. The nurse was gone and I sat next to Rital.
I wanted alone time with her before the nurse came back. I grabbed her hand and entangled my fingers with hers. Tears rolled down my cheek as I lightly placed a kiss on the top of her hand leaving my tears on her skin.
Color started coming to her face and I stood up lightly shaking her shoulders. "Rital. Are you there?"
But no response came. But her cheeks returned to normal and the blistering healed a little more.
The nurse didn't come in for another 10 minutes and when she did, she was surprised to see me again. "What are you still doing here. You should get to din-" She started. "Oh my Gods What has happened to her?" She said slightly picking up her head examining it.
"I don't know. But she looks better."
"Much better! This is great! Well, it is time for her ice bath. I will have to ask you to leave me to it." She said with glee.
"Of course." I said standing up and lightly putting her hand down beside her.
I walked out of the room with my hands in my pocket and down to my cabin.
Whatever happened, it helped immensely. And for the rest of the evening, I prayed to the gods her state will only improve in my private bedroom.
"Make her come back." I prayed. "Let her come back to me."
