Chapter 40 - Never liked change till now

The dance was soon approaching and everyone was taking about it and getting prepared.

I slipped on the gown that was gifted to me. It was a beautiful shade of light blue and at the bottom it flared out and it had small white snowflakes sewed into it. The dress was made entirely from silk making it very comfortable. I slipped on some silver heals that complimented the dress and added some final touches to my hair. I added on some extra jewelry and made sure to slip on the ring Seth gave to me.

Realizing I was late, I rushed out of my cabin and made my way to the a white building that was a quarter mile away from the camp. The building, I learned, was made by the gods for special events and for worshiping them.

I rush as quickly as I can to see Seth waiting outside for me. His Jaw dropped slightly making me giggle. He was wearing a full black suit with a white undershirt underneath. It surprised me a little since I have never seen him looked so polished.

"You look fantastic." He says as I approached him. He grabbed my hand and gave me a soft kiss on my knuckles.

"You too," I replied. "We should head inside."

We both nodded and entered the ballroom. It was huge with statues of all the major gods. All the campers are dressed up and taking amongst themselves. A soft violin was being played by one of Apollo's sons on stage. Seth grabbed by hand and lead me to the dance floor.

After a couple of dances we take a break and began to socialize. The campers have become much more comfortable with me and we can actually have real conversations.

Eventually I began to get tired and sit down on a sofa in the back of the ballroom.

Jake approaches and sits beside me leaving room between us.

"Look Rital, I'm sorry for lashing out the way I did before. I understand how bad it made me look." He confessed.

I didn't know how to respond so instead I stayed silent looking at the ground.

Jake sighed. "I understand you and Seth are close now, and it is not a problem with me. And I know I made it one, but I really am sorry. I just hope we can friends moving on. Ans for you to not hate me."

I looked up at him and smiled. "I would really like that."

Jake smiled back and got up. He extended a hand out to me. "May I have this dance."

"I'm ok Jake, I'm really tired and my feet are sore. But I bet there are a bunch of other girls who would love to." Jake chuckled lightly before nodding and walking off back to the party.

I sat on the couch for a few minutes before standing up again. Seth soon finds me standing alone and takes my hand.

"I can tell your tired. Come with me."

He dragged me up some steps and we had our way to a ladder. "After you he says."

I start to climb up the ladder as his hands are on my waist making sure I don't fall.

Once I get to the top my jaw drops seeing the sunset.

Seth soon gets up and smiles at me. "Pretty isn't it?"

"It really is."

I felt a shiver go down my spine from a gust of cool wind and Seth seemed to notice. He took of his coat and put it on my shoulders while making eye contact.

We sat on the edge of the rooftop watching the sun set in silence, taking in the amazing view together.

I began to feel tired and I rested my head on his shoulder. I smiled internally looking back at what has happened in these couple of weeks.

I was never the type of person who liked change. But right now, change has proved to be one of the best things that could have happened to me.
