Chereads / Daughter of The Snow Godess / Chapter 30 - Not really stealing

Chapter 30 - Not really stealing

For some reason him calling me just his friend made me frown. Reggie then starting looking at me a lot through the rear view mirror making me feel uncomfortable.

I was slightly trembling and curled my legs up and buried my face into my knees. I leaned my head on the window and admired the fields we were passing by.

Our time was starting to run out. 'We had to save Khione fast.' I thought.

The ride continued and we eventually took a pit stop at a gas station. I went to use the bathroom and I let out my hair. I played with it in the mirror and finally decided to put it back up again. We were currently in New York, but we weren't close to the mountain we needed to be at.

I walked out of the bathroom and hopped back in the truck. I forgot how fresh the air was outside and plugged my nose. Reggie was in the drivers seat eying me down making me feel vulnerable.

"So, where exactly are you from?" He asked with a smirk.

"Born in California. Raised in Washington." I replied with a awkward nod.

He continued to stare at me and I was really hoping that Seth would come soon. He then turned around to face me and began climbing to the back seat of the truck. "Um..." I stuttered. "You should go back to the drivers seat."

He continued until he was at the back next to me. He kept leaning his face closer and closer to me and his lips were inching from mine. I opened the car door and tumbled out and Reggie followed falling on top of me.

"Get off me!" I commanded.

"Why doll? I kinda like it like this." He replied with a gross smirk on his face.

I started pushing his shoulders back and Seth came running out helping me get him off me. Finally Seth shouted, "What the hell man?"

"Hey, you said you weren't together." He replied trying to play the victim.

"So that doesn't mean you get to climb all over her!" Seth said. He was really angry and I went over to rub his arm for comfort. His expression softened and he looked at me like he was saying sorry.

Reggie stood up and said, "You know what. You and your "not girlfriend" can find another ride. I am out of here."

"Bro, come on." Seth said. He stepped forward and put his hand on Reggie's shoulder but he jerked it away.

I stood silently the whole time not knowing what to say. I bit my lip in frustration and it began to slightly bleed. I licked the blood off and walked towards Seth. I felt upset knowing he lost Reggie.

"I am sorry Seth. I didn't mean to-" I started but was interrupted by him.

"It isn't your fault," he said turning to me. I gave him a hug making my body tingle. It was nice at first and then I realized his hands were wrapped around my waist. I shuttered and he pulled away. "You okay?" He asked.

"Ya..." I said. "How are me supposed to get to Mt. Emerworth?"

"It shouldn't be too far from here, but we sure don't have the time to walk." Seth replied looking around. He spotted some bikes and said, "We could always borrow those."

"Um... that is stealing." I said looking at him confused.

"Technically we aren't keeping them, we are just using them to get to Khione. They can get them back when we are done."

"Ya, and the bikes will totally just fly right back to them."

"Right." He said grabbing my arm and running over towards them.

"I was joking by the flying thing." I said. Seth pulled out some large cutters from his tool belt and cut the chains on 2 of the bikes. "Seth, this really isn't a good idea, we shouldn't be stealing them."

"We don't have another plan. Come on, they are just bikes." He replied.

"Just bikes? Seth, stealing a pack of gum would make me feel terrible. We can find another way to get there."

"We are in the middle of no where, we would have to walk the rest of the way. Come on! Demigods do this all the time."

"I don't know-"

"Come on, we don't have all this time to keep arguing."

I nodded in agreement and got on one of the bikes. We started riding away and I heard someone yelling from the distance, "Come back with that right now!" I felt the need to turn back and hand over the bikes but I kept following Seth.

After 2 hours of riding we stopped and rested for half an hour. We remained in complete silence while drinking water.

We biked for some more and took another rest.

We continued biking and stopped at Ellenville, New York which was only a hike away from Emerworth Mountain. We were completely exhausted from the bike ride.

"Okay Seth, lets hike up." I said breaking the silence.

"Are you kidding? We just biked 40 miles! It is almost dark out. We need to rest for now. We don't know what is going to happen and we need the energy to be ready for whatever we will face." He pleaded.

"No, we can't keep waiting. The winter is spreading fast. I don't want to wait anymore. All we have to do is release Khione out of a cage and then bing bang everything will go back to normal."

"Fine then..." Seth said with a groan.

We started hiking up the mountain and saw the trail of ice leading to a dark cave. And inside, you could hear the echo of unknown monsters.
