It was a cold night.
The rain was pounding down on the roof of the wooden house. Water started to drip onto the bed where Ruben lied in the fetal position. He inches closer to his brother Michael trying to evade the piercing cold droplets of the rain, but was greeted by a kick that sent him flying off the worn-out mattress. Standing up he was clothed in a stretched out vest, which sported several holes. Feeling defeated, he decided to go his parents room.
Touching the wall, he slowly walked down the hallway to his parents' room in the dark. After what felt like an eternity, he arrived and pulled back the curtain, which served as a door.
Even though the rain was falling, the moonlight still shone through the broken window.. allowing to Ruben to see his parents cuddled in the bed, which was tucked in corner of the tiny room.
His mom, who was mute and hearing impaired, made a noise and motioned to his dad to stop. She then signed to Ruben to go back to his room, but he started to cry. He didn't want to go back to his room because he knew his brother would beat him up for tattling. His dad who was on the inner part of the bed looked at him with his head to the side "Come on in Ruben.. it's alright."
Happy, Ruben climbed over his mom and dad and under the covers facing the wall. The aura felt a little off, but Ruben shrugged it off and closed his eyes. He felt his dad who was facing his mom moving back and forth. The movement made it hard for him to sleep, but he dared not complain. He was happy to be in a warm bed with no water dripping on in and he did not want to be kicked out. After what felt like five minutes, he mustered up the courage to ask his dad why he was moving so much. His dad responded in a husky voice "I am just helping your mom feel good."
His interest piqued, he exclaimed "I wanna feel good too! Make me feel good daddy."
His dad turned around, only part of his face being illuminated by the moon light. Ruben could see a sinister look in the green eyes that he had never seen before. He suddenly had a bad feeling, as his dad turned him around to face the wall, and pulled his shorts off exposing his pale skin to the slight coldness of the sheet. Then his dad whispered in his ear in a voice completely foreign to him, "Don't move or make any noises. You don't want to make your mom and brother jealous now, right?"
