Chapter 9 - Apology and Coffee

I woke up after a long night of tossing and turning, I wasn't sure why I even bothered trying to actually get some sleep. Too much was going on in my mind as I thought about the angry glare that Mikeal had given me and if he would actually show up for the dinner tonight. Also why would I have to be dressed up for a simple dinner with my publisher? Oh my god what will happen when I show up without Mikeal and have to apologize about lying about using my boyfriend for inspiration. My publisher knows what I look like, this is probably a ruse to get me to admit that no one that gorgeous would ever even bat an eye at me. Which of course was right considering the fact that he was with another woman that night, and I had made sure to calm myself over that because it was very childish to act the way I did. I may not be the prettiest but there will be someone out there for me, I am smart and artistic, I'm universally known because of my Aubrey comics. I didn't actually need Mikeal to be my real life boyfriend, just pretend so that I didn't lose face in front of my publisher. After finishing showering, brushing my teeth and pulling my unruly curly brown hair up high into a messy bun I decided that maybe it was time to get dressed and text Mikeal. I needed to apologize to him for my immature behaviors. Throwing on tight blue washed out jeans and a washed out black shirt with a white skull faded on it, I got on my black cowboy boots and grabbed my phone and wallet. Next step is to text Mikeal to meet me at the coffee shop by my house, which I needed to go to right now because coffee was screaming to me from there.

"Hey could you meet me at Coffee and Dandy by my place?"

I waited for the reply as I started walking there getting very nervous hoping he'd reply and come because I truly felt I needed to apologize in person as opposed to just through text like the asshole I was acting like last night.

"What a coincidence, as I am already there grabbing a drink."

What? Why was he there? Whatever, that just meant that I won't have to wait for long. As I entered the completely hipster looking cafe I saw Mikeal and motioned that I was going to get a coffee first. Getting my deliciously cold frappuccino with espresso I sit across from Mikeal and noticed a lot of the women here were staring him down and glaring at me.

'Oh come on? This is real life people, get a grip.'

Looking at the girls I decided to speak very loudly so they could all hear me.

"Wow, you look good today, almost makes me want to take a picture so I don't have to stare at you all the while we are here!" That seemed to work as the women started to look away embarrassed. Mikeal grinned at me and sipped on some other frozen drink that I couldn't tell what it was.

"Okay Mikeal, let me just start with how incredibly sorry I am that I behaved so immature last night. I truly had no right to treat you as I did and I am incredibly embarrassed by my actions. It is none of my business if you sleep with every woman or man in this whole city. Just know that I won't ever get like that again and you will never be treated that way by me ever again." I sipped on my drink and watched Mikeal as he adjusted how he was sitting to get closer to me as I talked. His eyes were emotionless as I waited for a response.

"My little lamb. It was my fault to not have showered and changed before coming over. It was not very gentleman like at all and to be honest I would have reacted the same had I been in your spot. Now, lets talk about this dinner party tonight and I hope you didn't think you'd get out of me dressing you up for it." I coughed as Mikeal's sweet voice hit me and made me blush even more, not only was he being considerate at first, then his voice turned to complete dominance and boss worthy. I nodded a bit at him before I spoke again.

"My publisher only mentioned dinner, why do you keep insisting on dressing me up for it. You even call it a dinner party but she never mentioned that to me." Mikeal shrugged.

"I don't care if it is just a dinner, my little chubby lamb needs to always look her best when being my girlfriend." My body stiffened looking at his smile as he said girlfriend.

"You mean, pretend girlfriend, for one night." I spoke slowly making sure there was no misunderstanding with my words to his ears. He nodded then stood up motioning me to follow, and because I'm a fool I did just that. I got up and followed the man who's been breaking into my house some how and now I am realizing just how close I was acting with this man who I only actually hung out with once and the rest was him breaking in. I felt completely stupid.

Mikeal

Watching her exit the cafe after me I could see the torment inside her mind. She was odd, she was sometimes living in the real world but then it's like she slipped into her fantasy comics. I smiled, it was very amusing for me, as I opened the door to my car. After she reluctantly got into the vehicle I slid in beside her telling my driver to take us to a dress shop owned by my friend. Watching her the entire way cooped up in her own thoughts I knew exactly when we got to the place as her eyes opened wide and I could fully appreciate the true brown of them, the depth of them, and the flaws that were evident of a hard life.

"Why are we here?" Her soft child like voice spoke whispering to me as I looked at her grinning.

"A friend owes me a favor and to make up for my rudeness and inconsiderate actions last night Miss Freya, this is my gift to you." Getting out first I again held the door for her and then proceeded to take her into the very expensive gown shop, which was not one anyone could go to as you needed an appointment to even get buzzed through the door and it could take years to get that appointment, which I am sure was not lost on her.

"My friend has made something for you Freya." She starred at me as I spoke.

"How could he? He never met or got my si..." She stopped mid sentence and looked at me. "The measuring tape? So this wasn't for that night, this was your plan all along." Ah, my lamb was way to smart for her own good.

"Yes, I was going to get a gown made for you, this will make it very special for you. " I didn't turn back to look at her as I started into the shop to the back where I met my friend in most cases.
