"Sir Knight!" a disembodied Vanessa yelled in vain at Mia. "Sir Knight! Can you hear me?!" She continued. Since arriving in this new world Vanessa was formless but could observe everything that was occurring.
"I don't think Mia can hear you Goddess." Aquir told her. "We have been trying to communicate with her as well but we cannot make contact.
"It is like we are in a different plane of existence." Tolvash explained. "We are able to see the world but not interact with it."
"Sir Knight!" Vanessa continued to cry out. "Why do you keep ignoring me?!"
Mia and Lucell had ran down the street and ducked into an alleyway away from the prying eyes of the onlookers. "I think we are safe here." Mia said. "What in the world was that woman talking about Lucy? Who is Lucifer anyway? I never heard of that Satan character either."
"I do not know either Miss Mia." Lucell explained. "This world is so different from our own, or even the one we just came from. There is no telling what kind of belief system the inhabitants of this universe have. It is probably best that we avoid them."
"What a weird place this is though!" Mia continued. "The buildings scarp the sky, there are large moving metal carriages moving without horses, and without magic. The air feels dirty and heavy, and there are smells that confuse the senses."
"Knowing everything we do I think I understand what is going on." Lucell explained. "Imagine a world where there are no elementals, or magic. How would life advance? I think that's what we are seeing."
"You think so Lucy?" Mia asked. "Is that why the Goddess is missing?"
"I believe so." Lucell explained. "It was actually this clue that gave me the idea. It would make sense if elementals didn't exist in this universe, that our elementals would also disappear. I don't think they are dead though, just not in the same space as us."
"Wow." Aquir said. "For a dense moron he is pretty smart sometimes."
"I am as surprised as you." Tolvash replied.
"Oh, Lucy always used to be super smart." Vanessa added. "I think he just doesn't think as well around Sir Knight for some reason. Seems like he isn't affected by it now though."
"Could it be the lack of boobs?" Aquir asked. "Mia is a dude currently so, might have something so do with Lucy's new found concentration."
"Wow, Lucy." Mia said. "You really thought about this. So, do you have any ideas how we are going to save our elementals and find a way back home? If there is no magic in this world, it could be quite difficult."
"I honestly don't know." Lucell answered. "I suppose that this world has something else. I mean something has enabled them to build these buildings and use carriages without a horse."
Just then lights lit up the alley way blinding both Mia and Lucell with its brightness. "Put your hands in the air." A loud voice commanded. "Make no sudden movements."
"Lucy why can we understand their language?" Mia asked while slowly raising her hands. "This is a completely different universe, there's no way we would have come up with the same words."
"I suspect that Phil has something to do with it." Lucell answered. "I suppose we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth."
A group of men approached Mia and Lucell carrying assault rifles and full body armor. "We have orders to bring you in Red man."
"Who are you?!" Mia asked. "What do you mean bring him in?!"
"I don't have to answer a man in a bikini." The unknown figure answered. "Never the less you can say goodbye to your red friend here. You are never going to see him again."
"What?!" Mia shouted. Mia then sprang into action; she had her original muscular body back and she remembered how to use it. In a flash he knocked out two of the men. As she went for the third man, they opened fire shooting her in her stomach and chest. She fell to the ground with a thud with her blood pooling around her.
"Mia, no!" Lucell yelled out. He charged at the unknown men as well only to be struck by stun rods. The last thing he saw before losing consciousness was Mia laying in a pool of blood. The men took the passed out Lucell and placed him inside an unmarked van.
"Objective complete." One of the men said into a radio. "We have big red. Returning to base."
Mia was passed out, but this enabled her to cross the line between the spaces and see the Goddess as well as the elementals. "Goddess!" Mia shouted. "I am so glad to see you! You have to help me save Lucy!"
"Sir Knight!" Vanessa yelled. "I think you died Sir Knight!" Vanessa pointed at Mia's unconscientious body lying on the ground.
"Wait, I'm dead?" Mia shouted.
"Looks like its kiddo." Aquir said. "What a rough way to go."
"No, I can't be dead." Mia stated. "I have to save Lucy. If I die how will I be able to save Lucy?!"
"Sir Knight." Vanessa said in a somber tone. "I am about to ask something of you and you cannot refuse."
"Anything you say Goddess." Mia replied.
"I am going to give you every ounce of myself." Vanessa explained. "If I do that there is a chance you will survive. Please allow me to do this for my baby. I don't want to see you die."
"Goddess!" Mia yelled. "If you do this will you still exist?"
"I don't know." Vanessa said with a smile. "Don't worry about that Sir Knight. You already agreed to let me. If you want to pay me back one day, just make me those babies!" With that Vanessa's ghostly body embraced Mia's ghostly body. She laid her head upon Mia's chest and both of their ghosts disappeared.
Mia awoke on the ground with a gasp of air. The wounds in her chest and stomach had been healed and the bleeding stopped. "Thank you, Goddess." Mia said as she got up. "Now I need to find Lucy, but how?"
"I think maybe I can help with that." A man said as he walked out of the shadows. "Very peculiar a person getting up after being shot to death. I feel like you are just the man we need. How do you feel about serving your country?"
"What are you talking about?" Mia asked.
"My name is General Adams." He said. "I run a government taskforce with the sole purpose of stopping the organization that captured your friend. I want you on my task force."
"Why would you want someone you don't even know on your task force?" Mia asked. "Sounds like a trap to be honest."
"No trap." Adams said. "Just want the man that death cannot even defeat on my team. I have resources and a network set up to track the whereabouts of your friend."
"I only care about finding Lucy." Mia replied.
"Good, sounds like we are of the same mind." Adams said as he reached out for a hand shake.
"I am leaving your group as soon as I find Lucy." Mia said as she shook General Adam's hand.
"Oh, not worried about trying to get home then?" Adams teased. "I know you are not of this universe. No need trying to hide it."
"You can help us get home?" Mia said with hope in her voice.
"Yes, all you need to do is bring down an international criminal organization for me." Adams smiled. "Of course that is how you will rescue your friend too, so it is a win-win."
"Fine let's do this." Mia said with a determined look on her face.
