Chapter 4 - Part 3 - University

I woke up through the sound of our alarm clocks. Instead of standing up, I just gazed at the ceiling for a few more minutes. I then picked up my phone to turn off the alarm. I looked at the time.

8:50 A.M.

The time startled me, which immediately made me sit down on my bed. I looked at Hanzo. He was doing the same thing as me. We both had the same expression on our faces. Our eyes are widened, feeling shocked.

"WE'RE LATE!" We both yelled at the same time. We then jumped off our bed and hurriedly got dressed. We didn't have time to take a bath. I felt disgusted, but I don't want to be late for my World Literature today.

I quickly tossed on the nearest shirt I can find within my area, which is my favorite Striped blue shirt. I put on my pants and socks. Hanzo put on a light blue shirt and a blue cotton vest on top of it. After that, I ran to the sink to brush my teeth.

Hanzo was ahead of me, so as soon as he finished brushing he pulled out two peanut butter and jelly sandwich from the fridge he prepared last night in case situations like these happens. Every night, he prepares sandwiches in case we wake up late.

We grabbed our sandwiches, put on our shoes, and ran outside of our dorm. We ate the sandwich as we sprint through a couple of people. I manage to accidentally knock down a biker.

"Sorry!" I yelled as we continue to sprint.

We got inside the university. My class was on the third floor while Hanzo's is on the first floor.

"Bye!" I yelled as I ran for the stairs. Hanzo responded with the same word.

I kept running, skipping two or three steps every time I run the stairs. Why did my class have to be on the third floor?

"Kazuya Shinozaki?" I hear my professor say as I was near the room.

"Present!" I yell at the top of my lungs as I hold the frame of the door, gasping for breath. I was sweating all over.

The professor checked my name on his class card. "Please take a seat, Mr. Shinozaki. The class is about to start."

"Okay," I said, still gasping for breath.

I sat on my chair near the window of my classroom. It was Greek Mythology class. Outside, I could see other university students, sitting at the grass, either talking or studying, some are jogging while chanting random phrases and sentences, and the rest are just walking around.

Hanzo and I are now in college. We are studying here at the University of Rabenda. We were both offered scholarships here by the dean. I got offered because of my writing skills, while Hanzo got offered because of his leadership and him maintaining the top spot in academics in high school.

Up until now, the woman is still in my head. I don't think of her that often anymore, but it randomly comes up on my head. I wish I could've helped her.

"Mr. Shinozaki," the professor called out my name. I was snapped out of it and looked directly at him.

"Ah- yes, Mr. Sato?"

"Could you please tell me about Thanatos?"

I stood up from my chair. I wasn't paying attention to the discussion. Luckily, I did my research about Thanatos, because I'm using him for my upcoming work.

"Thanatos is the Greek god of nonviolent death. His name literally translates to death in Greek. He is the son of Nyx, the goddess of the night, and the brother of Hypnos, the god of sleep. His symbols are butterflies, poppies, the theta, a sword, and an inverted torch, which also symbolizes death, a life extinguished. In vases, he is depicted as a winged, bearded old man, and in some cases, a beardless young man."

The professor, his arms crossed, nods. He was impressed by my answer. "You've given a lot from what I've asked. We haven't even gone into that point of the topic yet. Impressive, Mr. Shinozaki. You've done your research. As expected for a person with great writing skills."

I bowed and said my thanks. Looks like I've been the topic by many professors, huh?

It's been like this ever since I started here. I have been praised many times by the professors in my course. I knew this because a girl from my class in World Literature passed by the faculty and heard them talking about me, how they have read my entry in the writing contest back in high school.

Of course, I manage to answer their questions correctly because as a writer, you have to do your research before writing so every information you have to put in your work is accurate.

People are impressed by my work, but they have only read one of my works, and so far, I only made two. I haven't written anything new since the contest, but ever since I started studying here, I felt motivated. The classes I take in my course really helped me find my motivation.

Now I just have to gather all of that motivation and start working on writing.
