'It hurts.' Eurydice thought.
'it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts, it hurts.'
TLDR: Eurydice was hurt.
When the chicken had released it's unholy magic on the Dryad, he had fallen unconscious. Eurydice remained in this state until overwhelming killer-intent had awoken him, he blasted his eyes open and caught view of a blood-red talon making a beeline towards his throat; Eurydice pumped soul power into his legs and got ready to slide out of the way.
He was too slow.
The pain caused by the gash was unlike anything he had ever felt. The military made him aware or how painful his job could be had in excruciating detail, but nothing had prepared him for this. It felt as if his neck was almost severed from his head, a few nerves and tendons preventing them from falling apart. The blood gushing out of him was white hot, as if he had tried to swallow the sun itself. Eurydice grasped his neck, trying to prevent as much blood from being lost as possible, this just made it more painful.
One hand detached from his neck and started slamming the ground, Eurydice was in such pain that he needed an outlet to release his pent up stress; the other hand remained clutching his throat.
Eurydice tried to concentrate some healing magic to slow the bleeding, however the pain made it nigh impossible to focus and control mana. This painful process of slamming the ground and trying to direct mana continued for what seemed like years to him. The Dryad gave one last thrash to the ground, the last cloud of dust rose up. Eurydice's eyes turned glassy as he looked at his crimson covered hands, harshly contrasting with the blue sky he was facing. 'Pretty...' he thought.
Eurydice had been told stories of what happened after death, some told him that an eternity of nothingness awaited him, some said that a utopia where all your needs were met would await them, some laughed it off and pushed him to not think about it.
Only now had the Dryad realised the sheer amount of stress and anger he had built up over the years, how he collected the poison others spat and started to spit some of his own. He had died before he made contact with the humans, it was the mission he thought his life had led up to, but greed had blinded him enough to cause him death. He regretted so much of what he had become.
That's when the young Dryad gave up.
A roaring wave of euphoria flushed through his body, the pain which had blinded him moments ago felt like a bad dream. His mind relaxed, Eurydice forgot about his family, his sister, the elders who had compared them, the crappy situation he was born into... and finally he forgot his ambition. Free from the weights dragging him down in his seemingly insignificant life, the Dryad for the first time in years... felt content.
Then... the world turned black.
The euphoria died down and Eurydice was left feeling nothingness; empty. This emptiness stretched out for seemingly minutes, then hours, then days. The Dryad tried to form thoughts regarding his situation, his desperate attempts to do so were akin to someone grabbing a handful of water and trying to shape it; his mind was slipping away from him.

The pitch black expanse that surrounded Eurydice's consciousness transformed into a deep maroon colour, gaining in intensity and brightness as time passed. The loud humming noise was making his non-existent ears go crazy, the maroon had upgraded to a bright red, shades of pink could be seen coming into existence. The rate at which the colour brightened rapidly increased, red turned to pink, pink turned to peach and then peach became a blinding white.
For the first time in what felt like months, Eurydice felt with his body. His fingers traced along the crispy brown grass, making it disintegrate as he did so. Bright green eyes blasted open and stared at the cloud ladened sky, a grey expanse covered his view. Eurydice had no time to waste, he activated Mindstill and bounced back up, his previously life threatening injuries had been erased.
Then he saw it.
The creature which was to blame for his pain and anguish.
Contrasting and standing out from the brown grass, a small yellow body was lightly shaking. The Chick's evolution had completed and he looked significantly different, Eurydice however could still sense that it was the same one he had tried to trap.
The Chick's eyes had black outlines, as if mascara were applied onto them. Along his wings, curved stripes of black coursed through, all of them reaching towards the extremities in his wings. The creatures belly was instead a soft cream colour, reminiscent of the egg he had popped out of, his eyes were a deep grey and filled with fear.
Eurydice readied his knife. The Dryad pumped every ounce of Soul Power he could muster into his fingers and knees, he aimed dead centre at the chick's head.
He threw.
