Mo Lian needs some time to get her bearings, before she's able to listen to Lan Tian.
Her legs give out under her and she slides to the floor, her shoulders heaving with the strength of her sobs. Lan Tian kneels beside her, and wonders if he should pat her back. He fears the gesture would come off as condescending and remains quiet instead. Giving her space to let out her grief.
"Darling, my darling...did Mo Yuan do this?" she turns her tear-stained eyes on Lan Tian, almost begging him to deny it.
He takes out the letter from his waist sash and gives it to her. "He left this for you."
Mo Lian's hand trembles as she takes the letter from Lan Tian.
It's heart-wrenching to see the despair in her face grow as her worst fears are confirmed.
