Wu Yun comes to with a gasp, sitting up in bed and clutching his chest, trying to calm the frantic rabbiting of his chest.
Two things become apparent. He's back in the small room in the humble house in Xinzhou. He's not dead.
If he's not dead, that means that Lan Tian and Wan Mi, might be alive as well.
Just as hope begins to blossom in his chest, Lan Tian bursts through the door, carrying thick winter robes in his arms.
"Oh good, you're up. Let's go, we go find kindling while it's still early," he says, walking towards the bed.
Wu Yun shoves the ratty blankets off himself and throws his arms around Lan Tian's neck, making him drop the robes to steady himself against Wu Yun's waist.
"I'm so happy to see you," Wu Yun says, pressing the words against Lan Tian's neck and breathing in his clean, haitang scent.
Lan Tian rubs his hands down Wu Yun's back with a confused expression. "I'm happy to see you too. Did you have a nightmare?"
