The inside of the building isn't any less desolate than its outside. If it wasn't for their superior Beast vision, neither of them would be able to see a palm in front of their noses.
Every room is deserted, and not a single candle lights the way.
Wu Yun is the first to find the rickety stairs leading up to the upper level. As he suspected, there are some signs of liveliness upstairs. Drapes have been hung from the ceiling in some rooms for privacy, judging by the makeshift beds on the floor.
"At some point, several people were living up here," Lan Tian says, as they walk into the next room where more bundles of linen sheets litter the floor.
There are some pots and pans stacked neatly against the wall, and a brazier, that has long gone cold.
