"The servants will probably know more about what exactly was going on between Master and Madam Su." Wu Yun turns to Wan Mi. "You stay here, don't let anyone come in, pretend we're busy with the ritual or whatever. The two of us are going to try and find some servants willing to talk."
Wan Mi does her best to school her pout into a frown. "Why can't I go with you?"
"I don't trust him enough to leave him alone," Wu Yun says, smiling at Wan Mi, who is mollified enough by the subtle praise to return the smile.
"I resent not being considered trustworthy," Shu Luan says as Wu Yun grabs him by the wrist and pulls him outside the room, and into the open courtyard.
"What have you done to prove that you are?" Wu Yun asks, letting go of him to thread over the meticulous stone pathway laid over the grass.
Shu Luan scoffs and gives Wu Yun an incredulous look. "I've caught you hiding things from me, if not outright lying, at least three times!"
