Jiang Pinwei leads them into the Yamen, the administrative offices of Jinping. It's a sprawling complex of pavilions, with several courtyards leading into many different offices, and crawling with government officials.
According to Jiang Pinwei, none of them can be made aware of the county magistrate's death. That's easier said than done, when there's six of them, and one of them is a young girl, who looks really out of place in an administrative complex.
"Master Jiang, what brings you here?" a man with a thin mustache asks, stopping Jiang Pinwei with an unctuous smile. "Are you here to visit the county magistrate?"
Jiang Pinwei's small hands start sweating under his wide sleeves. "Yes, ah, he owes me a game of chess."
The man nods, rubbing his mustache. "I see, I see, and these honored ones? Your relatives?"
"Ah yes, my nephew, from Yangli, and his..."
