I gracefully played a note. "It's not so hard once you learn it. Watch carefully," I say as I play the notes once more."
I watch the little girl smile in amazement. "Can I really be as good as you?"
I nod my head, "of course. Anything is possible with a little bit of practice."
"Please play that piece again!"
I smile. Starting once more.
Knocking is suddenly audible. I nod my head towards Alice. Giving her the permission to open the door.
Aiden walked quickly. Confused to as why a servant was sitting beside me. Nevertheless he spoke, "Queen Victoria, the king has brought a woman into his chambers. She seemed to be hurt pretty badly. I've heard it was Lady Jessica from one of the rumors. She was beaten by her own family members."
I looked up at him. "Who might she be?" I asked, as I rested my hands away from the piano.
"The rumored adopted child of Sir Chris Hans. They have found their real daughter, so they are now kicking her out."
"What a pity."
"My Queen, are you not going to go and ask why he brought her? It is a shameless behavior."
"Careful, if anyone hears you. Your tongue might be severed. I'd be quite sad, you've done well.
"If that is what it takes to put him in his sense."
I smile at him, "A man has been able to take concubines since the beginning. It is something I can not change. Do not fret. He would not do something reckless as that without thinking of an outcome. I've known him since childhood."
"Alice, take Katy with you and be sure to bring her tomorrow at the same time for more lessons. For now I would like to be left alone."
"Alice replies with, "Are you sure my queen?"
"Do not worry about me. Your child is certainly gifted. We just need to nurture her talents."
The two pairs smiled.
After the door shut, I enveloped myself with my arms. Lying on the bed motionless.
It is normal for a king to take in a concubine, so why then am I getting so worked over about? Moreover, this marriage was never because of love. Sadly. Though, somewhere deep in my heart. I truly wished for it to be the reason.
