Chapter 2 - I don't Bite

She could almost hear the pounding in her chest, the only thought crossing her mind was to run as any normal human would but fear froze her in place.

'Please legs move!' She pleaded with her legs who still stood frozen Ito the spot, as she viewed this as her end, what was she going to tell her parents? Well if she doesn't move, there won't be any story to tell.

"I wont bite." She seemed to hear,

"Who said that? Looking around her, she saw no one as expected, which made her tremble at the prospect of the place being hunted.

"It possibly couldn't be the dragon." She gave it a thought for a brief second before bursting out in laughter at how silly that sounded.

'No sure way, you're just... you're just hearing things Mae." She tried calming her racing heart ; but it seemed to get worse with the intent gaze by the dragon that drove her wild with possible possibilities on if her crazy fantasies.

It laid there motionless with nothing more than it's nostrils breathing out air in light smokes. Closing her eyes for a few seconds, she opened them to be greeted by the strange display of teeth by the dragon, slowly the dragons full teeth shone with the eyes almost in the form of a squint, the slight twitching of the dragon's eyes never escaping her notice.

Is this dragon trying to smile and put up a show for me?? She was baffled and couldn't help but chuckle slightly at its antics.

Putting her fears behind, the only way out was to determine to live for herself.

No run away, it's chained, it's much safer an imaginary mini version of herself appeared on her right shoulder

'You'll never know the good that could come from this, it hasn't attacked you yet has it?' She shook her head in a no to the second mini version of herself which had appeared on her left shoulder.

"Then it's safe for you to approach the second mini version ended, with Milana's mind made up, she began what seemed a 10km journey in her head but in reality just a stone throw away.

Slowly her legs began moving at its own pace, it seemed the time had being paused causing a slow effect in her surroundings.

closer...

closer...

closer...

closer she got to the dragon, the dragon not removing its gaze. Finally she was a feet away from the dragon.

She pathetically tried stretching her hand while shutting her eyes, her legs still shaking, the dragon exhaled and lowered its head, she gasped when her hand finally laid down on the dragon's head.

I did it! I actually did it; woah this feels weird!! Its body is really scaly. I guess this dragon isn't dangerous as I've heard its kind to be in stories.

"See mother, dragons are our friends unlike in the stories" she said out loud to no one in particular

But there was still one question lingering and she needed to ask it now, gathering up courage, although what she was about to ask would be strange but she had to or else it'll be a series of what ifs, "Were you the one who spoke?" She said in a voice barely above a whisper.

She was thankful that the dragon nodded in reply immediately. OK that's being resolved, but how?

"How is this even possible? Do dragons normally speak, well apart from fairytales?" She was getting more inquisitive, this wasn't what she planned on meeting but it's one of the most interesting thing that has happened ever in her 13 years of existence, the dragon was about saying something but he was interrupted as he looked in the direction of archway which Mae had come through earlier on, as a shadow was being cast on the ground signalling someone was entering the passageway .

The dragon signalled her to hide behind some rocks beside the archway.

'Who could possibly know of this place apart from me?' She thought and hoped it was a well meaning person.
