Chapter 4 - Chapter#04: A talk with Dalton

Knock! Knock!

Jenifer knocked at the open door of the room. Dalton was lying on his bed, staring at the lava lamp placed on the table beside the bed. He was lost somewhere. Jenifer came inside the room and sat beside him.

"Get up Dalton." Jenifer said softly but no reply. "DALTON!" she shook him and cried out loudly.

"You scared the hell out of me Jen!." Dalton got scared.

"You were not answering." Jenifer told, "Clear up the plate now."

"I don't want to eat."

"Why not?"

"I'm not hungry I guess."

"But I'll make you eat."

"You can't force me."

"I'm a monster."

They both laughed.

"Here comes the plane." Jenifer took the noodles twirled around the fork towards Dalton's mouth.

"Oh! It crashed." Dalton ate.

"I can't believe we're playing the plane game." Jenifer laughed.

"We used to play this to make me eat when I was a baby."

"You're still my little devil."

"Do you remember that I used to vomit a lot?"

"How can I forget? I still remember once Kate slipped on it."

"And you took the photo."

"Lovely days they were."

"Mom still has the picture. She keeps all of them in that box behind the curtains downstairs."

"Eat this up. I'll go get it."

Jenifer went down to the living room, opened the cupboard behind the curtains and took out a big black box filled with tapes and pictures. She came back to the room and Dalton was licking the ketchup left on the plate.

"You haven't changed a bit." laughed Jenifer.

"Neither have you."

"Let's see what we have in here." Jenifer opened the box and took out an album, "This is the first album."

"I'm still having this shirt." Dalton pointed at the picture, "but it doesn't fit me anymore."

"The shirt won't grow up with your body." Jenifer gigglrd.

Jenifer and Dalton watched the pictures and enjoyed the tapes. They talked about their childhood and laughed at their silly jokes. It was all so funny. There were laughers everywhere in the room.

Della came to have a look at Dalton but watching them both laughing and talking, she just stood at the door and a sudden smile appeared on her face. After a minute she went back to her room.'

"So you've cleared the plate." uttered Jenifer.

"It was yummy." Dalton expressed.

"I thought you were not hungry?" snickered Jenifer.

"Jen can I ask you something?"

"Yeah sure!"

"Do you believe me?"

"Believe you…in what?"

"About my dreams, do you believe that I'm not making everything up?"

"The first thing brother those are not dreams. Dreams are beautiful. What you see are nightmares and the second this is that I believe you, why would you make this up?"

"But why do you believe me? You're same as others."

"I believe you because I'm having the same dreams."

"W-H-A-T?"

"That's true brother."

"Mom and Dad never tried to understand me."

"Don't worry Dal. I'm always there for you when you need a friend, a sister."

"But you're not there in my nightmares to help me."

"Chin up baby girl! Let's play Wii."

"We'll play Sonic Dash plus I am not your baby girl."

"Mr. Barbie I want to play Just Dance." Jenifer chuckled.

"Yeah okay but stop calling me with these names!"

They arranged the game and started to play and dance. Jenifer was having more stars and Dalton was losing the game. He was trying his best to beat his sister.

"You can never beat my score." howled Jenifer.

"That's because you're a professional dancer." teased Dalton.

Dalton was felling sleepy now. They both ended up the game and Jenifer made Dalton asleep all cozy in his bed. Jenifer closed the door and went to her room. She laid down on her bed to sleep.

"Tomorrow's a new day, a new beginning." she said to herself and slept.
