As I wake up I notice everyone has left my room.
Guess they went home.
I think to myself as I get out of bed and look at myself. My clothes are ripped up and my pants are torn from the knee down.
"Great, pff"
I say to myself as I change into another pair of black pants and a black and white striped shirt, throwing my damaged clothes into a garbage can. I slowly open my door while I rub my neck and walk into the bathroom. I stare at myself in the mirror and notice I have a few minor cuts on my face and on my shoulder.
Eh, it's not that bad.
I think as I remember about how powerful Velon was.
His mission was Rukia? Did he get sent here to kill her?
I think to myself as I wash off my hands and splash cold water on my face to wake myself up more. I grab a hand towel and dry off my face then walk down to the kitchen. As I walk in I see Aziria, Zero, Anix, my mom, Vic, Rukia, Raycar, and Zen jump out from behind counters and furniture.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
They all yell and I jump back.
Is today really my birthday? Damn, I'm losing track of days with all that's been happening the past week. Wait, how do they know? I never told them.
I think to myself as Rukia runs up and hugs me. Zero walks up and puts hit hand on my shoulder.
"Well, nice to know that you managed to survive 17 years."
He says with a smile. I squint and stare at him.
"I'm sorry, how did any of you know today was my birthday? I've never known most of you till this week!"
I mumble. Zero laughs and Aziria walks up.
"Oh, Rukia told us."
Aziria says with a smile. I slowly look at Rukia and stare at her.
"Why did you tell them today was my birthday?"
I ask Rukia. She shrugs and smiles. Then I look back to Zero.
"And how come every time we have a battle and you get seriously hurt, you somehow heal extremely quick?!"
I ask Zero. He points at Aziria.
"She heals me, she can heal people after all."
He says. She laughs and smiles.
"Yea yea, I can heal."
She says laughing. I blankly stare at everyone.
Why is everyone being so friendly?
I think to myself. Rukia walks away for a moment as Zen walks up and frowns at me.
"What's your problem?"
I ask him. He closes his eyes and replies.
"I have no clue how a weakling like you survived 17 years."
I stare at him for a moment.
"Says the guy who got knocked out by Velon."
I say with a smirk. He jolts his eyes open and gets in my face.
"I didn't get knocked out! I got bored so I fell asleep!"
He says while gritting his teeth. I roll my eyes.
"Yea yea, whatever."
I say as I look at Vic who is sitting on the couch staring out the window. As I start to walk toward her Raycar jumps in front of me and ruffles up my hair.
"Hey! Happy birthday dude!"
He says. I blankly look at him.
"Um...didnt you try to kill me yesterday? Why are you even here?"
I ask. He frowns.
"What? Oh, no no. I was just testing your power."
He says with a nervous smile. Then he starts digging through his pockets hastily looking for something. He pulls out a tag with a weird symbol on it. I stare at it for a moment.
"What is that?"
I ask. He laughs.
"Seriously? You don't know?"
He asks laughing. I shake my head no while he continues laughing.
"It's transportation paper. It can take you to different planes of existence. Like Heaven, Hell, the one you live, Desert of Death, etc."
He says handing it to me. I stare at it for a moment then I take the paper slowly.
"It's my birthday present to you."
He says with a smile.
"Thanks, wait, why did you just have this on you?"
I reply as he quickly walks away. Anix puts me in a headlock and laughs before I can continue talking.
"Happy birthday little bro."
He says as he lets me go and pats my back. He smiles and hands me a box. I take it and open it. As I open it I see a Bracelet. I look up at him with a confused look. He smiles.
"It's one of my extra wristblades. That one responds directly to energy, so even you can use it!"
He says as he pats my back and sits on a chair behind him. I close the box and sit it on the coffee table as I sit next to Vic.
"You ok?"
I ask. She turns and looks at me.
"Yea, I'm fine. Just thinking about how powerful Velon was."
She mumbles while she closes her eyes and shakes her head.
"His power was unbelievable."
She says with a sigh.
"Well he's gone now."
I say. She looks at me.
"He will return, he's a hunter, he hunts demons and angels, even though he is a demon."
She says.
"Well, anyway, happy birthday Kai."
Vic says as she smiles lightly.
"Thanks."
I reply with a smile as I stand up. I stand up as Rukia walks into the living room with a chocolate cake. Zero frowns.
"I don't really like chocolate."
He says. Rukia turn and looks at him.
"Well, we were gonna have pizza later, but you can grab a box now I guess."
He smiles and runs into the kitchen. Rukia smiles and cuts the cake for everyone. As we all eat the extremely sugary cake I notice my mom isn't with us. I pay no attention to it and keep eating my cake. After a few minutes my mom walks back into the living room with a box and hands it to me.
"Happy 17th birthday son."
She says with a smile. I open the box and see a shiny black metal.
"What is it?"
I ask. Vic looks at it for at moment. "That's Zenexiun. A extremely hard metal only found in hell."
Vic mumbles. After Vic says that I look at my mom.
"Why did you give me this?"
I ask. She laughs a little and smiles.
"I just thought it might be of use to you in the future."
She says.
"Well, thanks mom."
I reply as I set it on the floor. She sits next to me and gets a piece of the cake. After we all finish the cake, we all chit chat and relax. After a while everyone leaves except my mom, Zero, Raycar, Rukia, and Vic. Everyone is dosing off as I see a couple of the neighbors start fighting across the street.
They seem to fight almost once a month.
I think as I watch. I never learned my neighbors names, never really felt like it.
I wonder who will win today.
I think to myself as they both punch each other in the face and knock each other out.
Tie, I guess.
I think as I close my eyes. All of a sudden there's a knock at the door and I jolt to my feet. I look at the clock.
6 pm, who would be here at 6 pm?
I think to myself as I walk to the door. As I get to the door there's another knock at the door. As I reach for the doorknob I hear a scream outside that doesn't sound human. I freeze.
What was that?
I think to myself as I fling the door open. As it opens I see a women standing at the doorway with black sockets for eyes and a smile that goes from ear to ear. Blood is streaming from her smile and I quickly slam the door, a bead of cold sweat rolling down my cheek.
