Chapter 63 - Mixis Tower [Chapter 63]

We quickly dash up the stairs, easily clearing several floors per second. I notice each floor has 2 doors, but I'm not sure why. Not even a minute later, we reach the top floor. There are 2 doors once again, but one says "Rooftop". We quickly throw the other door open, and look in the room. It looks like some sort of office space with a large machine in the center.

The machine is surrounded by 4 thick pieces of glass reaching from the floor, to the ceiling and forming a box.

"Did we find it immediately?"

Warren mumbles while looking around. I feel the building lean slightly and tense up. It soon leans back.

"That's unsettling."

Vex says as we walk into the room, straight to the glass. We all stare at the device for a moment before I hear faint breathing behind us. I look over and see a small closet. Vex looks over, obviously also hearing it. I start to step towards the closet, but Vex pushes me back slightly and he walks over.

He rips the door off and a man screams hysterically.

"N-no! Get away from me!"

I watch books and small objects pelt Vex from the closet, but he doesn't even react.

"Listen, just bring our friend back. We aren't here to hurt, or kill, anyone. We just really need our friend to come back to life."

Vex steps aside and waves his hand, clearly asking the man out of the closet. Slowly, clearly terrified, a man with a suit and short black hair emerges from the closet. He looks at all of us, Azeroth glaring back to him.

"I-it is a slow process. It would take almost an hour to fully bring him back."

I nod and look at my sword.

"Shouldn't be a problem, I can keep them busy down the-."

"No, we won't be killing anyone."

Vex interrupts me and stares at me. I place my sword on my shoulder and glare back to him.

"Alright, then how do we last an hour up here? What's your plan?"

I ask, curious to his idea on how to solve this problem without violence. He thinks to himself aloud.

"Well, this place doesn't allow use of magic. Meaning there has to be something stopping it, if we find and destroy that, you could just dominate them again."

I sigh and sheath my sword.

"Alright, any idea where this could be?"

I ask, looking to the worker. I smile and raise one eyebrow while tilting my head. The man stumbles back. He fumbles over his words, clearly panicking.

"Well, it, this, you. This building. The whole thing."

I blink a few times and sigh.

"One more time, this time coherently please."

I demand. He takes a deep breath.

"This whole building has an Anti-Magic field around it. It isn't one piece, it's the entire building."

He quickly walks over to a device and starts pressing buttons. Warren looks to me.

"What if we just destroyed the stairs so they can't get up here?"

I look to Warren and draw my weapon.

"I prefer that idea."

The worker speaks up while still typing.

"They'd just take the elevator then."

We all look at each other, then to the worker.

"Ele-what?"

I ask, confused. The man pauses for a moment, clearly thinking.

"It's, uh, like a pulley system to raise you up to higher floors. It's faster than walking up stairs."

I quickly put the pieces together.

"Is this 'elevator' through the second door on each floor?"

I ask, the worker nodding. I quickly dash out the door and fling the other door open. I enter a large room with paintings and hallways. I see two sets of closed doors and quickly pry them open. I see a long wire leading straight down.

"A pulley system, huh?"

I quickly cut the cable and watch it snap downward quickly. I move over to the next set of doors and cut that cable as well. I then move back to the stairwell and jump over the railing. I fall about twenty floors before I grab the steps. I pull myself over and ready my sword.

"How do I go about this without bringing the building down?"

I stare at it for a moment, but before I can come up with a perfect idea, I hear a door slam far beneath me. I look over the railing and see people running up about 40 stories below me.

"Shit, no time."

I quickly slam my sword into the walls and start ripping it all down. I cut and slam until the stairs start falling through. I weaken them majorly and push them down, collapsing them down. After doing this to several floors, I notice the initial collapsed floor is sealed off.

"That should buy us plenty of time."

I quickly dash back up the stairs and back into the room with everyone. I see they have Blankk in the machine. Azeroth sits in front of the glass, watching closely. We sit, listening to the whirring for a while. Dim blue and green lights slowly filling the glass.

After almost fourty minutes, we feel the building shake slightly. I draw my sword once more and Vex sighs.

"They are persistent."

Vex mumbles as I smile.

"This could already be solved if you just let me go down there."

I say, taunting Vex slightly. The doctor suddenly shakily speaks up.

"H-he finished early? His healing ability must be phenomenal."

We see the glass slowly slide open and the cradle like device open up. Blankk lays inside, still unconscious.

"It will take a while for him to wake up."

Azeroth moves into the glass and looks at Blankk, examining him and making sure he's alright. Kain crosses his arms.

"Maker, so I wasn't mistaken."

I look to the doctor and place my sword on my shoulder again.

"So will he retain his stats?"

I ask. The doctor nods wildly and looks to all of us.

"S-so do I get to live?"

He asks, Vex giving a thumbs up and walking passed him. Azeroth once again lifts Blankk and carries him to the door. We all quickly walk out and follow Vex onto the rooftop.

"If we jump far enough away, we should be able to teleport or use other magic."

"Magic?"

We all spin around, and ready our weapons, at the sound of a girl's voice. We see a woman sitting on the edge of the roof with long pink hair. She has white and red robes on and a sheathed katana beside her. Black high-heels and long white socks rise up to her thighs with red strings at the top.

"I heard you're from Sathric, is Magic what you use over there? Because here, we call it Brilliance. And your Brilliance would be teleporting, that's pretty neat."

We all stare at her. I speak up.

"Did you know we'd come out this way? Or did you just happen to be here?"

I ask as she giggles and closes her eyes, still kicking her feet carelessly.

"It doesn't take two brain cells to realize that this was your only way out without conflict."

I glare up to her.

"And you know we didn't want conflict, how exactly?"

She giggles once more.

"You didn't engage in the fight when your magic was negated. When you lost control of those people, you just ran into the building instead of fighting. It only makes sense, if you think about it at all."

Vex steps forward.

"Look, you have us all wrong. We aren't villains!"

The girl tilts her head.

"Awh, that's too bad, because I am."
