Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

"..."

"It seems that you will be able to choose your class soon," said Charles.

"Oh, yes I will be, but the hurdle I have to overcome is quite high," I responded.

"I don't want to undermine your strength with such menial tasks, so here if you take this letter and visit my good friend Margret, it'll help you overcome your hurdle much faster," said Charles before handing me a letter and having his servant show me to the door.

Quest Created:

Find Margret and satisfy her needs to overcome your hurdle.

Rewards:

??? XP

Difficulty - Depends

Although I wasn't sure of the difficulty nonetheless I still quickly made my over to the marker.

It didn't take long, as most of the players that had been chasing me gave up or completely forgot what had happened.

Soon I arrived at a rickety house, I walked up the stairs and knocked on the door.

I had thought that someone would come and open the door, however, a magic array appeared until my feet and teleported me.

After a few seconds of dizziness and a bright flash, I had arrived in a magnificent library, with marble pillars and decorative statues.

"Who are you?" asked a blond woman with glasses.

"Oh, uh here take this letter, Charles told me to come here,"

"Interesting, Charles usually doesn't send anyone to me," said the lady a bit surprised before grabbing the letter and reading it.

"I see, so you need my help in overcoming your last barrier?" asked Margret.

"Yes," I responded.

"Alright, let me tell you something, although this is the first and easiest hurdle to overcome, it is also the most important hurdle. If you make preparations and overcome it properly you will be much stronger than your peers. Versus, you do it carelessly without a second thought, it can end up hindering your future progress," said Margret in a very serious tone.

"If you think about it like this if you have trash, it's going to smell. If you decide to get a new trash can and you don't remove the garbage it will still smell. However, if you take the garbage out before getting a new trash can. It won't smell, essentially what you are doing is cleaning your body before you break you overcome your hurdles," said Margret.

I was quite surprised as I hadn't expected the process to get to level 10 to be so complicated.

"You are quite strong for someone at your level, however in reality without all of your items you are very very weak," said Margret

"..." I was blushing a little bit because most of my strength came from my luck in which I was able to get items from.

"Since Charles recommended me to you, I won't lead you down the wrong path and will do my best to guide you. However, I'm going to need you to do something for me, as I need something in return," said Margret.

"Of course," I said without hesitation, who in their right mind would give up such an opportunity?

"You see all these bookshelves? They haven't been organized in a very long time, I want you to organize as many books as you can, they are all labeled just bring them to the right place. Also, feel free to read any books here, you might find something helpful to you. Take as long as you need," said Margret before teleporting somewhere.

"..."

Quest Updated:

Organize and gain as much knowledge from the books as you can, depending on how much you do, Margret's opinion of you may go up and down.

Rewards:

???

Failure:

Decreased Affection with Margret

Time - Until she comes back.

Difficulty - Depends.

"There are at least a few million books in here, at most I would be able to sort a few hundred, but what do I have to do to get the best possible result?"

I thought to myself while walking towards a bookcase.

[Skillbook - Observation]

"???"

"What? They're skill books here too?"

I was shocked, I was currently quite far ahead of the other players, however, Margret was right my strength was without substance. Once I lose my items, I'll be like any other players, however, if I take advantage of this and learn as many skills as possible. I would be much stronger in the future.

Observation - Level 0

While using this skill generates information on an item, if the skill level is insufficient observation can fail.

I was hoping to find more skill books, however, after organizing and clearing one whole bookshelf, I didn't find any other skill books.

I was quite disappointed if finding free skill books was that easy then the game would be broken.

While organizing the books, I felt bored and decided to gain some free XP on my observation skill.

[Book on the art of royal painting]

Belongs in section G, bookshelf 9, row 6, slot 89.

A book on how to please nobility with paintings.

"..."

"This is a pretty helpful skill."

With this observation skill, I no longer had to look around the library to find the right location for the book. I could now just grab as many books that belonged to a certain section as possible. Then I could just organize them from there. If I couldn't get as many skill books as I wanted then I would achieve the highest possible grade for this quest.

As I was sorting out the books, I used Observation which was now level 2 and gave more details on the things I observed. I had used observation on an entire bookshelf and it listed each book on that shelf. Normally I wouldn't have cared, but something had caught my eye.

[Skillbook - Complete Weapon Mastery]

Legendary

It gives users an understanding of how to use any weapon ever created.

"..."

I didn't know how to feel, all I knew is that I was fucking excited. My heart was nearly popping out of my chest. I quickly grabbed the book from the shelf and learned it.

[Complete Weapon Mastery has been learned, Basic Sword Mastery has been merged with Complete Weapon Mastery.]

50% higher attack speed.

35% higher chance to produce a critical attack and deal 100% more damage when a critical attack occurs (300%).

All skills that use a blade will gain 50% more XP.

"..."

I stood there in the middle of the library for a couple of minutes trying to process what had just happened. Just like that, I could now use any weapon I wanted and deal more damage than normal with them.

I quickly began to use observation on as many bookshelves as I can to find other skill books while organizing books. I had wanted to maximize my efficiency by completing my quest properly while further strengthening myself.

It wasn't long before I came upon another skill book.

[Skill Book - Scavenging]

Rare

Automatically skins and dissects monsters, animals, or plants that were killed.

Guarantee that drops will include bones, muscle, meat, tusk, etc (aesthetics of the creature).

Increase 50% drop rate of other items and 25% increase in the rarity of dropped items.

It wasn't long before Margret came back to the library.

In that time I managed to find an Epic ranked skill book which increases all my stats by 15.

"Did you do all of this by yourself?" asked Margret

"Yeah, I could have done more if I focused harder," I said, fearing that what I had done was insufficient.

"More?" Margret asked incredulously.

"You managed to organize 1/1000ths of an entire section! Do you realize how long that would take an average person? At least 10 days!" exclaimed Margret

"Ok! As, per our agreement I will do my best, with all my power to help to overcome your hurdle," said Margret

"First drink this potion, currently you are very one-sided in strength, agility, and dexterity. However, you are quite lacking in Vitality and are severely lacking in Intelligence and Fortitude. By having a high fortitude you can resist mental attacks, or other types of debuffs better," said Margret.

"The potion will increase your 3 lowest stats by 20 points and this second potion will raise your overall stats by 10," said Margret before handing me the two potions.

I quickly drank them and received the notification.
