Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Although I am a filial child, I still thought in my head that my Mom was too gullible, which company would want to eradicate a portion of humanity. She was the one being brainwashed by the videos on youtube giving claims Bill Gates had tried to kill everyone in the world by having people get vaccinated with the cure to the Coronavirus.

I was one of the people that had a 4.5 GPA don't ask me how I just had it. 1 week wasn't an exactly long waiting time and before I knew it, the long-awaited day for the game release of Verisimilitude arrived.

I decided to ignore my Mom's warning, I just had to play the game, it was simply too tempting. I set up a warning signal so that when my Mom goes upstairs, it would send a signal to make, forcing me to wake up and hide the equipment.

It wasn't long until it was 8 o'clock.

7:59 PM Thursday, January 4, 2100

I had made sure that everything was properly set up and that my warning signal works, before, putting on the helmet to enter Verisimilitude.

The helmet for Verisimilitude didn't look much like a helmet and instead looked like a visor that you put on. It was made of a dark and transparent screen that was extremely sleek. Which would make it easier to hide since it had no wires and looked like a big pair of sunglasses. The visor wirelessly charges itself by connecting to the internet and connecting itself to the power system of the house.

Before, you could use the helmet you had to give a sample of your blood to the helmet to properly link your body tot he game. As well, as registering the model number of your helmet to the official ICEBERG website.

Currently across the world about 35 billion people were laying in a capsule or were laying in bed with a similarly shaped visor around their head.

It was simply unbelievable that a game could garner so much attention from people around the world.

7:59:59 PM

8:00 PM

At that moment everyone heard a buzz and a sharp prick at the temples of their heads before their vision went blurry and blacked out. At that moment everyone heard a sweet voice in their heads.

"Welcome to Verisimilitude, the game of the century..." said the sweet voice, before a giant dragon appeared in front of them. Following that their perspective followed the dragon over a magnificent kingdom filled with life, over mountains, forests, towns, villages, volcanic, and snowy areas.

"Verisimilitude nearly mimics reality, except for the fact that the sky is the limit! You can fly, you can cast magic, you can make items. What you want to do is up to you!" said the sweet voice.

Right after that, a start screen popped up in front of everyone, following that they were all brought to their character screen.

"Unfortunately, as Verisimilitude intends to mimic reality as much as possible you can only slightly change your character." said the voice one again.

Many people around the world were dissatisfied with this feature, but they continued onwards.

I had changed myself to get rid of the acne on my face and to make myself as tall as possible, as well as making my eyes larger. When I was satisfied I continued with the opening of the game.

"The world of Verisimilitude is 100x larger than our Sun (YES OUR SUN). Each place is unique and different, nothing is ever repeated or the same." said the voice.

"There are 6 main stats in this game." said the voice before, having an interface pop up in front of the users.

Stats:

Strength - Increases Attack Damage by 2 per point.

Agility - Increases Energy by 10 per point and Speed by 2.5% each point (Default speed for everyone is 3 mph walking and 8 mph running).

Fortitude - Increases Defense, -1 damage every point in Fortitude and 1% Reduced Damage Taken every 50 points.

1001 - 2500 Tier 6 Grandmaster

2501 - 5000 Tier 7 Legend

???

Every breaking point of tier players must take an advancement trial to refine the player's increasing overall power and stats. (Players do not have to take advancement but players must take advancement within 20 levels of crossing into the next Tier or else players will not be able to advance. Each level over the initial level to advance will reduce rewards and stats gained by 4%.)

Everyone starts at level 0 and requires 100 XP to level up. Each level costs 1.25x as much as the previous one. While every 10th level cost 2x as much XP (Ex. Level 9th 2x as much XP, level 19 2x as much XP). While the level before an advancement requires 2.5x the XP of the previous level.

In Versimilitude there are 3 main sides:

Sides - Dark/Neutral/Light

Players can choose the side they want to be on at level 10. Except for the Neutral side, players must complete a quest to be neutral, players that are neutral gain the benefit of doing deals with any side they want depending on their relationship status.

Currency:

Copper Coin 100x -> Silver Coin 100x -> Gold Coin

The game had spammed players with general information of the game, as some people were trying to comprehend the information the game gave them.

Others such as me, have already finished comprehending the game and were about to distribute our stat points.

"You will be given 10 points to allocate your stats, keep in mind that there is no way to change your stats after you confirmed them." said the voice once again.

Stats:

Strength - 1

Agility - 1

Dexterity - 1

Vitality - 1

Intelligence - 1

Fortitude - 1

Stat Points - 10

I quickly calculated that if I were to put all points into Strength I would only do around 22 damage assuming that my starting damage is 1.

I had decided to put 6 points into Strength, and 4 into Agility and confirmed my stats. Since this would allow me to run slightly faster than all the meatheads that put all their points into strength.

Stats:

Strength - 7

Agility - 5

Dexterity - 1

Vitality - 1

Intelligence - 1

Fortitude - 1

Stat Points - 0

Estimated Raw Attack Damage - 14

After a bright flash, I was asked to input my character's name.

"Ichijero," I said without hesitation, this was the username I always used when creating a character or when I signed up for something.

"The System has confirmed that you are using a special helmet model and will guarantee you at least a Rare Talent or something equivalent." stated the feminine voice.

The talent was not decided by System.

The talent has been concluded to be closely related to the System.

The System has accordingly adjusted and you have received the Talent Dual Talent.

Talent 1 has already been decided, Talent two will be decided...

[You have received Big Body - Rare (Growth)]

"You will be sent to the Starter Village in 5 seconds." said the voice before counting down.

"Huh?"

"What.?"

Before I could say anything else I was thrown into the world of Verisimilitude in the middle of a village square.

The village seemed to be pretty normal, it had stone roads and wooden buildings. You could see villagers riding in carriages to their destination or NPCs bargaining without NPCs for goods.

I moved my hands around and walked around, surprised at how well it mimicked reality.

I clicked a few buttons on my interface and eventually found the button to get to the status page. I scrolled down to see what my talent had in-store for me.

[Dual Talent - Legendary]

Dual Talents (Pretty Self Explanatory).

[Innate Transmuter - Rare(Growth)]

As long as you understand the properties of any matter and their atomic details you can freely transmute anything you wish.

As your knowledge increases to include complex technology and magic, your skill rating will increase.

Current limits, elements, and simple multi-element creations.

Gain Photographic memory and 100% increase to comprehension.

[Big Body - Legendary(Growth)]

You are blessed with a big body that allows you to accommodate a large amount of resources within your body.

You allowed to use any skills that require Resources even if it does not suit your class (You will not receive backlash due to your big body...)

Resource Pool (Mana, Energy, Qi, Stamina... not health) increases by 100x, 100x Resource Regeneration, and gain 15% CD on everything.

Abilities that use resources deal 50% more damage.

"..."

"I really am blessed by the heavens aren't I?"

Both talents could be regarded as Godly, the bane of all players that grind monsters is a lack of Mana and Stamina when grinding. With this, I could cast 100x more spells and skills and do strenuous activities for 100x longer. While, with transmutation, if it's even more versatile than real life than I would basically have no limits, as long as I keep learning.

However, though I don't exactly understand what it means by gaining photographic memory and increased comprehension.

Follow which,

I checked at my Inventory to see what it had in store for me.

*Ding*

"You are now level 1!" said the system

"Well, that's surprising I guess, I'll follow the same format with my previous skill point allocation."

I instantly allocated my stats once more.

Stats:

Strength - 12

Agility - 9

Dexterity - 1

Vitality - 1

Intelligence - 1

Fortitude - 1

Stat Points - 0

Estimated Raw Damage - 24

If I include my new weapon I should do around 29 damage per hit. Since weapons in this game add to your estimated raw damage.

After allocating stats I started to run around the village looking for quests to do but, I soon realized that I probably had to interact with NPCs to get quests.

After talking to a few NPC's I finally received a quest from an old elderly man on the outskirts of the village.

Quest:

Difficulty F-

Help this Old Man deliver a letter to a friend

Rewards:

25 XP

10 Copper
