"So, are you stupid or what? You meet your master and you're just standing there with a stupid look on your face?" The innocent-looking shota spat as he waved goodbye to his mother.
'Huh? You can see me? What do you mean by master?' Lacie took a step back in shock as she cocked her head in puzzlement.
No matter whether it was stealing someone's fish or spitting on their face -- which just blew a pleasant breeze onto the person, frustratingly enough -- no one saw Lacie herself. No, they only saw the directions to the local shaman or exorcist as they ran away in horror, frantically searching for the shaman's fee in their coffers.
'If that shaman could see me too, we'd make such a great team.'
He crossed his arms and snorted. "Of course I can see you, dimwit. Why else would I bother wasting my breath? And yes, this necklace is mine, and so are you."
'Are you an exorcist's son? A shaman's son?' Lacie asked, stomaching her desire to tell the rude shota off. Even absolute cuteness couldn't hide a vile personality. Older sister belongs to no one, thanks. Older sister is just temporarily the necklace's resident.
The kid gaped at her while shooting her a condescending glare. "Jeez, what an idiot. Not just because someone has the blood of a shaman or exorcist running in their veins means they can see you. They have to be trained first."
'You still haven't answered. You only said that you're either an exorcist or shaman, but not which.'
"None of your business. Any spirit worth their salt would have known what I just told you, though. Are you a newbie or something?"
The brat wanted her to answer him about what she was when he refused to answer such a basic question? Still, he could be a good source of information for her new world. Sooner or later, Lacie was bound to run into other spirits but she had no idea what the average spirit was or what kind of abilities she could have.
'Yeah, I'm a noob.'
He looked at her like he wanted to eat her as a wide grin spread across his face. Pointing at her, he loudly proclaimed, "Alright then. From now on, you're my apprentice. By the way, my name is Galen."
'Huh?'
