Maya
"By the size of the fetus, I would say your little over 9 weeks," I stare at the dark screen awed that the tiny bean in there was a baby.
"Would you like to hear the heartbeat," the doctor asks
"No," I rush out, I haven't made up my mind on what to do about the situation. Hearing its heartbeat will only make it difficult.
"That's completely normal, let me do a couple more checks and take a couple of pictures for you."
"No pictures please," She nods and continued moving the wand on my stomach staring at the screen.
"Maya, if this is something you feel you can't cope with we need to be talking about alternative options"
"If you are considering aborting, that has to be done soon. Or we can look into putting up the baby for adoption" I look at her face, then at the screen.
"I haven't thought about it," I was too preoccupied dealing with the fact that I was pregnant.
"Okay, think about for a few days. I recommend you talk to a midwife." She looks at me with sympathy.
