Amid the flour that covered the old dining table of Aurelia sat the two familiars, Zann and Leonel.
They were clustered around the pasta machine, one at a time, feeding the machine the dough that Elenea had done after their training.
Zann was flattening the dough before Leonel would put it inside the pasta machine through the rollers. They watched it grow ever longer and thinner.
They turned the dial to change the roller thickness and sent it in again, over and over until it was long and papery.
They could almost taste it already covered in a tomato basil sauce and sprinkled in parmesan. It was hard to believe that all the pasta was is made from flour and eggs, kneaded and shaped.
The final job was to send it through the cutters to make tagliatelle and hang it on the rack for a moment before it was ready for them to boil.
The pasta was green, so either Elenea had put in spinach or more basil.
