Chapter 14 - The Discrimination...

They all reached the alter. There lay a number of dead bodies, covered in different color clothes, aquamarine, coral and silver and were covered from head to toe. A severely old looking man with a little beard, pointed eyes, and a hand little shorter than another, walked to the center of the stage.

"We had a tough day today, and lost many of our friends and family members, who laid their life for the glory of our clove. It's time to revenge and not waste their sacrifice, so we shall pledge."

As if a command, every clove member placed their two fingers on their forehead, closing their eyes. Daisy and hunter tribes members copied the action.

"We pledge that..." the elder began. Daisy felt a hand brushing her fingers, she peeked to see it was Robert. She stiffened, but soon realized that he seemed to be trying to convey something. 'Do not pledge', he wrote on her palm.

"We shall take the revenge of our loss today... by killing every vampire we meet... If we are unable to follow... may we... die a justified death... by alter sacrifice.", Daisy peeked around to see if it was over and opened her eyes when everyone else did.

"Now its time for the final ritual. The aquamarine covers our brave clove members, who would be taken home by their families till the further rituals are prepared, the coral have the hunters in them, the ritual will be decided by the tribe head, and then there are the vampires, that need to be thrown in the open forest for the vultures."

"We won't touch their filthy body!", a shout came, which was soon joined by more people.

"What's the difference between us and vampires?", the elder asked, with authority in his tone.

"We are civilized!", an answer came.

"Right!! And you just have to throw them for the vultures so they won't rot here."

"What a 'honey looking venom' speech that was!!", Daisy grinded her teeth as she looked at the clove members brutally throwing the vampire bodies and then carefully picking up their family members bodies.

It made no sense to Daisy, the hatred for even the dead bodies. She hated them as well but their level of their hatred was too high for her to take. She was about to pull Robert jacket from behind, intending to go back to her father, when she heard the elder talking to Robert's father.

"Richard has no family, since you have space to take in an unknown girl, you should have space to take him in.", the man who was on stage a while ago, said with a screwed smile.
