Chapter 63 - The Scene After A Battle

When we arrived outside of the guild, it was surprising to see that the building was untouched.

I couldn't say the same thing for some of the nearby buildings and stores, they were mostly destroyed, the ones that still stood had at least some damage to them. Monsters body's and parts were scattered across the ground. There was even the dead body of a man, sitting up against the building. Judging by the dagger next to him, he was probably an adventurer.

"It seems this building was one of the targeted places. It makes me greatly angered." said Harley.

"I didn't think more attacks would happen so soon."

"Neither did I. It caught us both by surprise. Let's head on in."

Me and Harley set foot inside, it looked completely abandoned by life. There were more lifeless bodies, belonging to adventures, guild workers and strange people in red-tuxedos. I could only guess that the ones wearing tuxedos were with the terrorist organisation, it was the same way theri leader Arisa dressed.

All around, it was so gory, I would've just turned around if it was a choice, but this had to be done. We walked to the elevator, as it opened, there was yet another dead body. Blood had been smeared everywhere.

Getting in and heading up to the top floor, it felt wrong to ignore this body, but there were other things to do.

Ching!

The elevator doors opened and of course, I walked out first.

Slash!

A weak swing of a sword came at me, it wasn't really all that fast either.

Clink!

I caught it between two of my fingers and looked at the one who swung it, another adventurer.

"Relax. I'm here to help." I said.

The adventure holstered his blade and bowed, "O-Oh. I apologize! We faced so many attackers. We were just scared of more of us dying."

The adventurer had every right to be scared. The scene outside and inside wasn't something to take lightly.

"It's okay. I saw the scene on the first floor. You were in the right to be scared." I said.

A second adventurer came forward, he seemed to recognize me.

"You're that new Legendary-ranker! Man, someone like you is just who we needed. The rest of us either died or are injured badly."

When he said 'Us.' that meant that there were other than just these two.

"Us? Where are the other's?" I asked.

"The couldn't get in the elevator on time with us. The doors closed before they could. Around twenty minutes later, I received a phone call from the survivors. They took the stairs and hid on some of the other floors."

The fact they were hiding meant there were still monsters and those tuxedo people. It was weird how they enemies didn't just take the elevator to come to the top floor.

"What's stopping the remaining threats from coming after you guys up here?"

"It's a type of magic embeded into the elevator. No hostile force could enter the top floor. It's both a good thing and a bad thing. One of the others waited to take the elevator and got trapped with a monster. When he reached our floor, he couldn't come to safety. We didn't know if he survived or not, until now. That's him." The adventurer pointed to the dead body in the elevator, trying not to cry.

My hand reached into the elevator, pulling Harley out. As elevator doors shut, the two adventurers took one last look at their friend.

"Why did you pull me out?" Harley asked.

"It's no polite for you to lurk in there while we're trying to talk." I replied. But the real reason was because I could tell the adventures would rather keep seeing their friend in such a state.

The same adventurer that recognized mealso recognized the girl by my side. The one and only 'Harley Vale'.

"Even you came out here to help? We can't thank you enough. Those people in the red tuxedos and the monster's need to pay for the lives they took."

I took a step forward.Saving the survivors in the lower floors would be my job. I wanted the excuse to kill the demented enemies.

"I'll take care of saving the other adventurers as well as killing any remaining enemies. Just tell me where I can find them."

The adventurer replied, Some of them are hiding on the seventh floor. The other's made it to the tenth floor. Please, make sure they survive."

"I can't make any guarantee until I'm there. Once I am, no threats are. going to get passed me."

"Thank you."

On entering the elevator once again, Harley tried to come with me, but stopped her and said "You stay here with them. I'll be back shortly."

Even if the elevator doors prevented hostile presences from coming to the top floor, that didn't mean their safety was guaranteed. If bad guys wanted to really come up here, they would eventually find a way. Having Harley there was a safety measure.

My task began on the seventh floor where I was quick to enter. It took some time to find my way around through some of the halls, until I reached an area with many offices.

Peeking out from behind a wall, my eye caught sight of 5 different men, all wearing red tuxedo's. In front of them was a young woman who they tied up. Even from this distance, I could see the tag on her chest, showing her position in this building.

[Information Gathering: Julia Books]

Her last name suited her job. But this wasn't the time for me to make comparisons, I needed to help her.

One of the tuxedo men lifted a knife to the woman's eye, toying with her.

"You're one pretty lady. It's a shame our orders are to kill anyone in this building. I'll make an exception though. How about you come join our cause?"

Even when Julia was faced with death, she declined. Her determination was strong.

"No! You guys are just murderers!! I don't want any part in your cause!"

"Oh..what a pity. Goodbye then." The man lifted his knife, getting ready to stab the woman's eye out.

It was time that I interfered. Before he fully swung it down, I grabbed his wrist and tossed him out one of the window's

Grip! Toss! Shatter!

It was safe to say that he had a nice veiw beofore spaltering on the concrete.

I spun my body, swinging a kick that sliced through each of the remaining men.

Slash!

Their organs and blood spilled across the room. I had acted on hate, but I should've considered how the lady behind me felt. I doubt organs were the last thing she wanted to witness.

'Maybe I should've tossed them out of the window too.'

When my eyes took notice of Julia's emotions, she didn't seem disturbed at all. Instead, she seemed surprised of being saved at the last possible second.

"You...who are you?"

"Well, My name is Katsuya. I'm here to rescue the survivors in this building. And..I'm sorry for causing a bloody scene in front of you like that."

My hand swiped through the rope that had her tied.

Swipe! Cut!

Being freed, Julia got to her feet with haste before making a fist in front of my face.

"Don't you dare apologize. You saved me! I don't have a right to complain about which way you did it. Also, I am no stranger to gore. I used to be an adventurer, you know."

A sigh left from my mouth.

"Good to hear. I was afraid I traumatized you."

She placed her hand over her chest, and spoke professionally.

"No need to worry. I am fine. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Julia Books, an information researcher."

"Yeah, I know." I said, which probably made me seem like a creep.

Julia jolted back with an utter face of shock,"Y-You do?! How? Have we met before?"

My finger pointed at her shirt and I explained, "It says your name right there."

She quickly sent her gaze down, realizing the name tag on her shirt.

[Information Gathering: Julia Books]

"Yeah...I knew that. I just like introducing myself sometimes, you know."

My mind found it kind of funny how she was was having a conversation with me as if I didn't just slaughter 4 men. Though I liked talking to chill people, I had to cut the conversation short. I still needed to locate the adventurers.
