Chapter 8 - Patched him up.

He turns and gazes at the woman with slight irritation and ignored her.

Doctor Lauren felt her face turn red gets embarrassed by the man's actions. She composed herself and said, "Your wounds need treatment immediately, that wound gets infected that will be worst."

His eyebrows almost connected after being bothered and annoyed by the unknown patient in front of him. He was about to respond to her when the door next to the window open.

A few doctors, nurses, and the paramedic that was with them in the ambulance exit the door.

One of the doctors is Doc Peters then notices the patient carrying a suture tray behind the man.

He clicked his mouth and smiled at her. He approached them and recognized that the man is injured, and he looks like he might have a broken shoulder as it seems a little out of place.

"Mr. Rogers is still not through the critical stage."

"He will be in a 24-hour observation, I'm sorry, but you have to get yourself checked and treated".

He pointed the tray of medical tools.

She's a doctor and my college, though she is a patient herself right now". Doctor Peters's hand gestured the woman to take care of him.

"When you finished getting treatment, you can come and see me Adam for further details." The male doctor taps his right shoulder with his palm with some strength and grins at him.

Adam flinched and felt a crushing pain in his right shoulder as he was displeased by how the doctor's intention of teasing him.

"Doc Lauren, he is a friend, please take care of him." The doctor smiled and left the two.

Amy saw how the man flinched and carefully guided him into one of the ICU vacant wards. She did not say anything being awkward to how he was with her when she approached her.

Feeling inconvenient, he tried to clear his throat to find an excuse to break the ice.

Doc Amy continued to clean and treat the man's wounds when he suddenly speaks.

"Thank you!." He shyly said.

"It's my job! No need to thank me." One of her eyebrows raises shows her recent disapproval in response to his words. She wanted to finish treating him ASAP, but as a doctor and patient, she needs to check everything and have to hold on to her sanity.

Amy sighs and asked. "Mind me asking, what do you do for a living?".

"I have finished cleaning the wounds, the injury to your right shoulder needs to be X-ray, I'll see some bruising and inflammation, let us hope it is only a misaligned bone, not a crack."

Adam grabs the lace necklace hanging on his neck to the end of it and hold it and showed the doctor.

Then she notices the badge hanging like a necklace around his neck. "I see."

"No offense! Can I ask why you are wearing a patient's gown." Pointing at her clothes.

Amy felt her face hot again and uncomfortable, her ears turned red as she realized he probably saw her as some crazy patient pretending to be a doctor.

Feeling her mistake, she accidentally tightens the sling as she adjusts it to man's right shoulder to his elbow while it supports his whole right arm.

The injured man again flinched as the pain is getting more prominent as he tries to move his left arm.

"Sorry! I'll prescribe you some pain killers, but you'll need to bear with it after we get the X-ray results."

"It's ok! , (Pointing at his arm) not a rare thing it happens now and then". He tried to joke about his situation, but instead, he shocked her.

"That's a joke." He continues.

"Hmm... It is great if it doesn't happen all the time." Seriously commenting on his joke.

"My name is Adam Knight, a detective." He reaches his left hand for a handshake and smile.

She felt calmer as she reaches her right hand to receive his hand. "Amy Lauren, a doctor."

They both smiled at each other and accepted each other's gestures.

As she continues to check if he has other wounds and injuries, she saw a hidden cut on his left forehead covered by his curly hair.

She gently touches it, but then he suddenly flinches. The looked at her face changes with concern and carefully examine the man in front of her, and notices bruising as she pushes his hair up.
