Chapter 11 - His older brother.

"Dage?" her eyebrow furrows and almost connects.

She looks at the doctor standing next to her, the detective on the hospital bed, looking for some explanation.

Laughter filled the room as the two men looked at the face of the puzzled female specialist.

"You seem to be in cahoots and having a blast at my expense." Her arms crossed as she was waiting for an answer.

The two men tried to control their laughter as the male doctor responded.

He raised one of his hands to stop himself from angering his beautiful colleague. "I'm sorry this is my fault," he said collects himself from the unexpected burst of laughter. Her cute response to their news made him unavailable to control the urge to tease her a little.

The detective put his hand to hide the smile in his wonderfully chiseled face.

"So when are you two planning to tell me?" Doc Lauren held herself from getting annoyed by the men's outburst.

"Um! We're cousins, but I was feral and got kicked from the family." The gorgeous doctor added trying to joke to her.

A brief silence filled the room, it was cut short after a knock on the door, and a nurse came inside, followed by an old couple.

"Mom, Dad," the detective was surprised by the couple's presence.

"Son, are you alright?" The couple both uttered at the man lying in bed.

The old man recognized the male doctor next to his son and uttered, "Min? Are you Min?" as he approached him with endearment and concern in his pale green eyes.

The male doctor sadly smiled at him and answered, "Yes, it's me, Uncle,"

"Are you Min?" the old lady who followed behind her husband was almost on the verge of tears. Her eyes lit up even though she barely recognized her nephew due to her poor eyesight she went towards the doctor and held his right hand dearly.

.....

Slight tension was felt in the room when the old couple entered, and Doctor Lauren felt that there are some changes in her colleague's behavior.

"I'm Dr. Amy Lauren," she offered her right hand to greet them and introduce herself trying to break the unease atmosphere.

Unsure of how to lessen everyone's worries, she knew she might have to do something.

The old couple looked at her with uncertainty and were unsure of how to comment.

They both looked at their nephew and their injured son to confirm her introduction.

The two men once again giggled as they both realized that the female doctor in the question of her identity is still wearing a patient's gown herself with a stethoscope hanging in her neck.

"Hmm..." Clearing his throat, doctor Peters tried to get doc Amy Lauren's attention.

Her eyes meet his, and he was pointing to her that she's wearing a hospital gown. Her eyes wandered to her colleague.

Doctor Peters whispered, "Wanna borrow my coat?"

Realizing how embarrassing the brief introduction was, her face and ears turned red. "I'm so sorry," shyly uttering her apology.

Again, everyone inside burst into laughter. Even the nurse and the old couple can't help but join in the laughter.

Both men felt relief as the awkward reunion dissipates, and the whole room became pleasant and cheerful.

Amy just smiled from the unexpected ruckus she just did. She is not the type to make dozens of mistakes, and she seriously does her best when it comes to her job. It was her nature to make sure to be at her best when facing her patients and their respective guardians.

Though it was a little humiliating, she too finds it was sure one funny moment, and she knew it was unavoidable.

A knock on the door cut their laughter.

Another nurse and doctor came in carrying some clipped results of the recent examination.

"Good morning!" he cheerfully greeted everyone in the room. He slightly bowed his head to the patient and guardian.

"Dr. Peters and Dr. Lauren, I'm glad you're here, the Chairman has prepared a conference room in Building A, and all doctors were all instructed to attend, and it starts at 1:00 PM."

"Everyone will be attending because it was compulsory."

"Oh, and also this," he snapped his finger as he remembered to report the patient.

Then he handed them the clipboard and said this is the result of the blood test and ECG of Mr. Adam Knight.

Doc Amy accepted the paper, looked at it, and thanked him.

Doctor Peters instructed the two nurses and the physician to excuse themselves as they finished the tasks to do the three bid farewell to the patient, and the old couple then left the room.
