I'm going to show up and reveal myself under the rock. A reminder. That I wasn't just an ordinary girl but a princess. I remembered my father's words that he would announce everyone that I was their new princess, a princess he adopted and loved dearly for now, that would be a their hidden secret. He have to show everyone so, they'll be aware I'm their newly princess due to this no one would dare to hurt me.
I'm getting ready for this tonight. There's a part of me was uneasy because I've never had an attention before especially, on the crowds. Until, this tonight. They will now see their princess.
I'm walking beside my maid as we stroll through the dark hallway. We were heading to the grand ball in which where the celebration was held.
The hallway resonated with silence. Neither of us spoke up until I decided to ask her name.
"May I ask your name?" I asked softly. I glanced over the maid, she had pale hazel eyes with natural ebony hair. If my guess was right, she looks twelve in this era. Isn't it too young for her to work this hard?
"It's Elena, My Princess.." she spoke up formally.
"You know you don't have to be formal. Ria is fine! " I laughed nervously. Gosh, what's with this people used to put up in a formal way.
"Pardon me, Princess but I can't." she said truthfully.
"Riwa ish fine." I pouted. I forgot I'm still inside on a child body.
It's quite tiring really and continue to act like a child y'know. Acting cute and talk gibberish was boring and cringey. I just couldn't wait to grow up soon ugh. Nah, I'll changed my mind being young could be fun.
"Alright, Ria..we can call eachother like that unless if we're alone" Elena smiled and pinched my cheeks teasingly.
"Yay!! Then, should I call you Elyy?" I pretend to make my eyes sparkled while pleading at her.
It's much easy to call her Ely. Besides, I tried not to remind her name same as Eli which I've watch the anime of Seven Deadly Sins. I've been fond of Elizabeth ever since I started to watch it. Eli was how Meliodas called her.
"Sure..it is a shorter name and cute." Elena mumbled, unaware her grip tightened to the princess. She was touched how the princess calling her with that nickname. But that nickname holds something she didn't want to remember. She wonders if he was okay..
I looked over to the maid then, to my hand where she holds it tight. I didn't bother the pain and glanced to her in wonder.
What's the maid's background? I thought in curiosity. Does she have past lover or something? Seeing many emotions filled on her eyes. I could tell it is. Lol, since when I became a mind reader? It wasn't even stated on the story.
Is it empathy?
As Elena lost on her thoughts, I grabbed her hand and swinged slightly to bring us back to our leading way.
She snapped out from her thoughts as I gazed at her giving my pure smile, receiving her forced smile in return.
Everything is okay.. As much as I wanted to tell her that though I hesitated cause I know I'm just a child. She would freak out if she finds out I'm not a normal child and report it to the majesty.
I rubbed my small palms into hers to comfort her somehow. I hope she isn't getting the wrong idea.
My mind could have not been a four year old but nineteen. Soon, I'll promised to help her. But for now, It'll have to wait. . .
There was something warm rushed to my hand like a lightning. I gasped and pulled away quickly when Elena throw me a look in confusion.
Various of memories rushed through my mind like a waterpool. I heard grunting from a male and a girl scream then, followed by whimpering. Soon after, there's curses and arguments. It wasn't my own. It was hers.
With a shaky breath, I nodded at her as if everything was fine.
She didn't notice my fear expression earlier since I masked it right away.
What was that?
I tried to shrug away those pictures appearing my mind like a movie. But I ignored it and walk forward.
As we walked through the hallways, I saw a figure leaned on the window but I think Elena noticed it too.
He has a grey hair with a dark shadow covered his face. The hallway was dark except the rays of moonlight reflected his jaw appeared on a display. I couldn't see his face since it was hidden under the dim light.
Elena grabbed my hand as we passed at him. I was about to say 'hello' when my hand pulled slightly by Elena's hands which makes me confused.
She shot me a look, 'not to bother him'.
I wanted to say, 'why' but just nodded at her.
When his silhoette was gone in our sight, Elena explained me that he was Jack, the butler. No one dared to approach to him after the incident.
I wanted to ask her about what accident. However, she didn't dare to share the details while I was left hanging.
Nu fair..
I pouted and looked around with curiousity.
We had arrived.
Before us, there was two magnificent royal doors. Blue and gold with a royal crest plastered on it. I looked down at my shaking hands which covered with white silk gloves. Calm down, there's nothing going to happen to you.
There just people.
Royal ones.
I thought bitterly.
"Ready Princess?"
"Ready as I'll ever be." I choked.
The doors began to open.
