Chapter 1 - Avery

Yup Missy blew up the barn. Even thought she's already 13 she can get away with anything but it's even worse with Emily and James. I'm the oldest of all my siblings I have been sort of the mom ever since our parents died last 5 years ago and left us with aunt who never paid any attention to my siblings and I except when something would go wrong. Like for example this morning Missy blew up the barn and I got blamed for not stoping her, like what was I supposed to do predict that she was going to set fireworks off in the barn and stop her? My name is Avery I'm 16 years old and I live in Oklahoma I don't exactly prefer to live here but what can I do I'm just a silly old girl like my aunt says.

Since I got blamed of the barn getting blown up I was not allowed out of the 12 by 12 room me and my three other siblings shared for 2 months, only once twice a day to go to the restroom, and she would bring me whatever what was leftover from one or two meals.

Missy kept apologizing over and over even after I said it's fine and when she got caught sneaking food to me she was locked up with me.

One night me and Missy snuck out of our room at night to get some food and all we could manage was a slice of bread and a squirt of jelly before we herd "aunt Bertha" coming down the stairs that was probably one of the scariest moments of my life, if she caught us we would be dead be dawn. We quickly scurried back to the room before she caught us out of bed.

Me and Missy were finally let out of the room no thanks to aunt Bertha, that old witch. Aunt Bertha "homeschooled" us well that's what everybody thought she really did not teach us any thing I was the one to teach Emily and James how to read. They were 3 when my mom and dad died they don't remember anything about them which I find sort of sad. Mother and father were such good people nice to everyone, good samaritans. Unlike the old witch us kids got stuck with.
