Finally, after I walking for what seemed like an eternity, and fighting our way through beasts, we reached a town.
"I'm surprised Kuroyuki-kun, you're pretty sharp with a sword"
"Oh, not at all, my grandpa taught me how to use a sword and was very strict with it. How did you learn the sword Sugihara-kun?"
"Oh I was in the kendo club back in high school and I had a very strict coach as well. Haha"
"Oh I see. Seems like we were both blessed and cursed with strict senseis"
I smiled and made small talk as to not make things awkward but I really didn't know what to say or do at times like these. While I was struggling, Yuuki-San and Yamanaka-San were having their own little conversation behind us. How does one keep a conversation going with someone they just met?! Thankfully, that was when we reached the town gate. The town gate was so big that I thought it was unnecessary and it was built with stone and there were guards on top keeping watch.
"So this must be some important city, maybe the 'king' lives here?"
Yamanaka's deduction is probably right, I don't think any town can make a wall this big around a huge city unless someone important was inside.
"Probably, but for now let's see if we can communicate with people here and if we can find some place to spend the night"
Sugihara-Kun walked forward after declaring his thoughts. I walked next to him and when we reached the gate the guards blocked our way with their weapons.
"Halt! Where is your ID?"
We looked at each other shocked. Internally I was thinking, "wait what?!? We can understand them?! What is going on am I going nuts?!" But this was no time to be amazed, it's time to use my amazing skills to the test. I am a self proclaimed best liar!
"Oh, well you see, we are traveling merchants who just became adventurers and on our way here we were being chased by a bunch of beasts out in the wild. We were forced to leave our belongings so we don't have any of that on us right now. Do you happen to know any way of getting new ones?"
The rest of the gang just looked at me in shock and the guards looked like they were sold on the lie. Inside I celebrated and was shocked at the same time that it worked.
"I see, very well then. Come this way, I'll escort you to the guild hall so you can register new ones"
We nodded and followed him through the town. The town was beautiful full of merchants and people and the houses were well built being made of cobblestone and wood.
"That was amazing Kuroyuki-kun, you lied straight through your yellow teeth!"
Hearing him whisper that into my ear irked my soul.
"What are you talking about?! Your teeth is way more yellow than mine are!"
I whispered loudly and he just laughed.
"I was just joking sorry. But thanks to you we didn't run into my trouble. Truly, I'm glad you're here with us"
I nodded and was a little embarrassed that he would say something so nice to me. I didn't look his way as we walked.
"Here we are, I'll show you to the grandmaster's office"
We nodded our heads as he lead the way. Inside the first floor there was your normal RPG styled room, seats and a reception desk and full of adventurers. He took us up to the second floor to the grandmaster's room. He knocked on the door.
"Excuse me, Grandmaster Seran, these merchants seemed to have recently became adventurers and lost their IDs and are looking for replacements so I brought them here"
"Very well, bring them in, I'll do what I can"
"Sir"
The guard opened the door and let us in to the room, we walked up to the desk he was sitting behind and what we saw was a man with a huge build worthy of the title "grandmaster".
"So you are the 4 that need new IDs? Judging from your clothes you aren't from this world are you?"
We were all shocked to hear him say that we looked at each other and then at the grandmaster. He had an intimidating aura surrounding him and I jumped back quickly and prepared for engagement.
"Haha, now now, calm down. I was just confirming my intuition. You are wearing clothes that I haven't seen anywhere in this country and your auras are strange"
I looked at him and listened to his words, whether he was trustworthy or not I couldn't tell right away, but he seemed to know that we aren't of this world so I needed to gather information.
"Yes, it is as you say, we are not from this world. We were suddenly brought here by some magic circle. We just arrived here with no idea what to do or how to get back home"
"I see, so you're summons. Well before I explain to you what you can do and what you are now let me welcome you to Kemore Kingdom and I am Seran Balefrost"
