Chapter 3 - 'Meat?'

~Seth~

Ok, that was well deserved. I mean it was obvious that she was cooking. I didn't want to leave her calm demeanor that made me feel at ease neither did I have anything to say to her. So after sitting down and smiling I said the first thing that came to mind. Only after the words had come out did I realize how silly it sounded. And at that moment my brain finally booted and filled my mind with things I could have asked instead like 'how come I don't see you whenever I'm here?' or 'don't you think that the weather is nice?'. And just when she was about to answer me, 'what are you cooking?' came to mind. Well done brain, well done.

I could tell that she loved being sarcastic from the way the words rolled smoothly from her lips that looked inviting. I was torn between wanting to kiss her and just walking out before the temptation got worse. But leaving would mean that I won't be able to befriend her. At first I thought she was into girls and was dating Sharon but when I asked Becca and was laughed to scorn I knew better and felt relieved.

Whatever she was cooking, it's aroma was appealing. I wondered if in addition to brilliance she was a good cook.

"What are you cooking?"

"Spaghetti carbonara"

She stood up and turned off the cooker. She lifted the pot's lid and more aroma wafted into my nose. I realized how hungry I was when my stomach growled, thankfully it wasn't loud. So while she was dishing food with her back to me I decided to make my escape before my stomach embarrass me...

.....grrrrr.....

... too late. Beth turned around and tried to conceal her laughter even though her shoulders shook lightly. I could feel my cheeks heating up and I was speechless. I gulped audibly. She just smiled and put the plate in her hands on the side of the island that I was sitting. She dished another plate for herself and sat down. I couldn't bring myself to move in fear of embarrassing myself further. After a few bites, she looked at me as if to say 'aren't you hungry?'.

"Won't you eat? Or do you think that my cooking isn't good enough for you?"

"No it's not like that. I'm sure it's delicious. I'm not really hun..."

...grrrrr....

Well that's one shitty way of ending a sentence. She burst out laughing and it was like sweet melody to my ears.

"Your tummy obviously disagrees", she breathed out while biting her lower lips trying to control herself.

Before the situation could get worse I quickly sat down and took a forkful. Dear God. This is the best thing I have ever tasted. I cook better than anyone I know but this was mind blowing. I looked up to see her watching me, her eyes silently urged me to comment.

"Well, it's, um, you know..."

I couldn't find words to describe how great it was. Her countenance fell. Wait, does she think I don't like it. Crap! She looked away but from the side I could see her tearing up. Oh no! What have I done. Without thinking I walked to her side and cupped her cheeks so that she would look at me but her filigreed eyes avoided mine. I pulled her to her feet and sighed softly, this was one shitty way of befriending a girl.

"I was going to say that I've never eaten anything better. If you aren't going to become a chef then you've missed your call".

Her eyes refocused on mine and I could tell that they were glinting with joy. A tear fell from her eye. I tucked away a few strands of her hair away from her face. This time, thank God, my brain delivered something good. Wiping the fallen tear from her cheek, I said softly,

"We should probably count that as a tear of joy".

She threw her head back and laughed. I made her laugh twice today, it seemed that Lady luck paid me a visit. I didn't even realize that we were standing too close to each other that a slight movement would make us kiss. I was about to close the distance when Lady luck took a too-soon vacation.

"Lisbeth?"

I backed away to see Sharon standing by the kitchen's door, her eyes threatening to fall out of their sockets. I turned to look at Beth, her face was red to the tip of her ears. She looked so cute.

When I heard a stomach grumble I thought it was mine. I turned to find Seth a few steps away from the chair he was sitting on. His cheeks were red like someone who had just gotten a kiss from their crush. If he was hungry why didn't he say so? In order not to make him feel worse, I bit my inner cheek to stop me from laughing. I placed the food in my hands at the side of the island he'd been sitting. I took another plate and sat down opposite him. I took a few bites and felt proud of my cooking. I could hear only my fork scraping my plate I immediately looked up at him. What, now he's not hungry?

He objected eating but his poor stomach cried out once more and I couldn't help but laugh. He sat down and took a bite. I started freaking out, what if the salt was too little or too much, what if it was peppery. I calmed myself down by convincing myself that when I took bites earlier everything was perfect. I crossed my fingers and even my toes. I looked at him for his opinion and when he stuttered my heart fell.

I couldn't believe that the one thing I could do like every other normal person went downhill. Tears threatened to fall and I uncrossed my fingers. I didn't even notice when he stood up nor that he was standing next to me, until his rough palms lifted my chin and tried to make me look at his hazel eyes but I didn't have that courage. He pulled me to my feet and complimented my cooking. He even cracked a small joke. I concentrated my eyes on him and laughed.

I couldn't remember the last time a boy made me laugh so hard. I loved the way his warm thumb grazed my face when he wiped my tear away. His full pouty lips tempted me. I found myself wondering how they would feel against mine, or how they would feel at other parts of my body. My thoughts wondered to how good his fingers might be. I wanted him to trail his hands to my breasts and down to my...

"Lisbeth?"

My lustful reverie was cut short when Sharon called me. I was grateful though, because I didn't know how long i could control myself before stripping in front of Seth. I felt my entire face warm up.

"Sh-Sh-Sharon? Um, h-hey what's up?"

I sat down and Seth did the same. Sharon arched a brow when she saw Seth eating my specialty.

"I'm great and from the looks of it you are too". She gave me a sly wink. Great, I blushed again.

"Whatever. Why are you here?"

I asked her when she had a plate of food in her hands. She looked at me like I was stupid. Taking the sit next to mine she answered my dumbass question.

"Don't be silly, beth. What do we do every Saturday? Don't tell me you've forgotten. I wonder why", she glanced at Seth whose eyes were on his food before wiggling her brows suggestively to me. I rolled my eyes at her.

Every Saturday, for about a year now, we would sing in my room. Sharon called it vocalizing, I called it "pleasing Sharon". She wanted to become a famous musician and I saw that happening because she's a natural. Me, I'm no Mariah Carey but I could pass for Ariana Grande. Sometimes I like to be Meghan Trainor and be all about that bass, but with a little treble.

Sharon asked, "what were you guys doing before I came in? You looked like you wanted to eat him up".

I gasped then smacked her head lightly before rolling my eyes at her.

"We weren't doing anything".

She shrugged before asking again, "have you seen his feet?"

"What's wrong with his feet?"

Sharon tends to say and ask the weirdest things.

"It's big"

See why I said weirdest things. I mean what's wrong with having big feet?

"So?"

I stuffed my mouth with spaghetti and regretted it afterwards.

"They say 'a man with big feet has got big meat'"

Meat? It took me two seconds to realize what she was talking about. My food went in a different direction when I swallowed. So I ended upchucking my spaghetti everywhere. What the hell Sharon? Shit!
