Chapter 19 - Dungeon System Part 2

—————————Michael—————————

He was one his third round of mana sprints, he took breaks often to recover and get a look at his surroundings as to no be caught off guard or run out of mana but his trip had been quite uneventful, not even a look at a magic creature other than a Dox, a form of massive bull like canines that were apparently domesticated. They seemed to fight with their riders when they were idle. He had stopped to help as he thought they were being attacked by a monster but learned that in a world where magic could give you super strength, these beasts have grown accustomed to rough housing with their riders cause their riders are usually strong enough to take it. "What a world to live in." He thought. His thoughts took a depressing turn alone in the silence of nature he thought about the surreal situation he was in.

Alone in another world, but his thoughts were interrupted, "You're not alone Michael, I am here with you at all times, I will never leave you."

"Nice but you mind easing back on the mind reading, if I don't direct the thoughts to you try not to glance as much at them."

"I am sorry but I cannot. I can see fate and know everything that happens allowing me a 99.999 repetend percent accuracy on the actions of all things in the Omniverse. Even if I could not read everyone's mind, I would still be able to predict what you are going to do and are thinking in any given moment and I cannot turn it off Michael. It might not be the same level of accuracy for all beings but for humans it is typically around those margins… though it ranges."

He let out an exasperated sigh, "Can you at least be polite about it. I'm sorry and I guess you know that better than me but it's unsettling and unnerving."

"Why is it? As a child do not you tell your mother everything, that is until you learn about consequences and punishments for bad actions. I will not punish you so you do not need to hide anything from me… I will however, take your feelings into account, I will be polite."

He nodded, "thanks."

A few hours later he came across a disturbing scene, at first it looked normal, a two doxi carriage was stopped, he had seen a few of these but one thing he had never seen were still doxi, he didn't know their habits but he didn't expect they'd be completely still ever, even when sleeping. As he analyzed the scene he notice the doxi were dead, stabbed in several places. As he got closer he could see in front of the carriage, two nobles standing over two corpses being apprehended by cloaked figures. On closer inspection he could make them out as six rogues and bandits who had metal collars with unique engravings. Michael could picture a scene of nobles lost on their way to the academy stopping their carriage to ask for help. While dealing with their rowdy doxi they were then ambushed, their doxi riders murdered and forced to fight back they killed two of their assailants but they were overwhelmed by the other slavers, slavery had long been dead in his world and he wasn't gonna watch it happen in another. He could almost feel reality smirk as the system spoke, "Hmm this is interesting, you could use some noble friends, it'd make life in the academy easier... not to mention killing combatants is good for essence."

"Angel… Helping nobles seems a tad uncharacteristic of me no?" he shrugged but began slipping his sword out of its baldric.

"But helping people is not. Not to mention in the academy death rate for commoners is three death for every four commoners." Her voice was sweeter than normal.

"You do have a point and I've been meaning to get myself a better weapon regardless maybe they can buy me one, you've gotta explain to me later how exactly people can die at school." Micheal approached the conflict observing cautiously with his mana sight. Michael grabbed the body of one of the dead doxi. Attempting to lift it he immediately threw all testimonies about rough housing with one as being not only possible but causal out the window. "It's gotta weigh almost half a ton. It wouldn't budge so he began pouring more and more mana into his muscles, at about 10 points of mana in the dox started to budge and at about 15 he could heft it over his shoulder but for this to work he needed it to be as light as at least a bowling ball relative to him. So he spent 20 mana on increasing his strength, nearly a third of what he could safely use. He rounded the corner with the dead beast in hand and tossed it at the slavers before activating fire finger sending flames through the dox igniting it immediately. The bandits and slavers for their part attempted to leap out of the way but the blonde noble woman without hesitation created a knife out of pure mana and tossed it into the eye of the furthest one causing him to fall and trip the others attempting to escape in a rush, even still two got away. Michael wasn't going to let up, running lightning through his system balanced with pure mana he used his new speed spell, "Bolt!" He coated his right hand in raw mana creating what looked like an unstable shell of energy. He slapped the hand into one's chest sending them flying into a tree as he cut down the other. He turned back to the nobles making his way over to them, "You okay?"

The noble woman opened her lips as she attempted to speak up but immediately closed them as her partner decided to cut her off before she could start, "That was a cool trick." He attempted to punch Michael square in his jaw but still under the effects of bolt he easily caught the fist, pivoted to his side, kicked his feet out from under him by throwing a leg back and then he yanked tossing him over his shoulder.

"This is how a nobleman thanks a savior?"

"Sorry was just testing your reflexes, wasn't sure if you were one of them but I see you're not a. Rogue, they don't fight like that." He rubbed the back of his head "where are you headed."

Michael gave them the side eye, "The academy… Just happened to stumble upon you on my way back from handling some business in the forest."

"Oh? We are too right sister?"

She sighed, "Excuse our rudeness, we never introduced ourselves. I am Charli… Charli Rutherford Sterling and this is my brother Quentin Sterling."

"What's your name? We could register you with us, it's much faster for nobles to get into." Quentin, the burly young gentleman added as he asked.

"Michael Albens." He disengaged his mana sight and extended his admittedly bloodied hand to. "Wish I could extend a hand in under more sanitary conditions but, fighters dirty their hands from time to time no?"

He shakes your hand firmly, "We sure do. You're attuned right? I saw you use magic, what's your classification? I'm an arcane blade and the ultra rare..." he looked around to see if perhaps someone were looking and listening, "I'm also a Chronomancer." He whispered.

Michael nodded, "From what Ange- from what I've heard that's a space time class? Pretty powerful, I'm just an elemetalist and an enchanter." Michael and the system had come up with this lie on his run, the idea was that since Michael was unusually good for a native at manipulating his mana even without a class that it would be akin to both an elementalist and an enchanter.

Charli smiled, "I see, a unique balance. I'm a mana shaper and an enchantress."

Michael narrowed his eyes as he mentally asked the system for a refresher, "The mind control empath class, mana shapers can do what you do but better and only for a single affinity or element."

Michael quickly changed his demeanor back to a pleasant one, "enchantress, have to be careful around you."

She gave a polite smile, "you have no need to worry…" she looked around at the carnage, "Call it my entitlement but I can't walk away from this, they murdered Sam and Jerimijacob, they also said we'd probably be easier than the last one so this isn't their first time, "their must be an illegal slave auction house."

Michael perked up, "slavery is illegal here?"

She sighed, "being corrected by a commoner, you know what I mean, it's an unsanctioned one."

He didn't know what she meant, "So some slavery is legal?"

The pair of nobles looked at him strangely, "the nobles of your region need to divert more money to education for their vassals." She said through a sigh, her eyes danced up and down his rough but handsome form, "look you might have been able to pass as a pretty boy so you wouldn't have needed to know in town but someone like you would be a perfect target. Indentured servitude and Slavery is legal if expressly consented to or if they are a prisoner of war. There are other laws on how you are allowed to treat your slaves and how close to people we consider them until or if they get their freedom."

It wasn't so different from his world but to just not receive money for it felt wrong having a home and food is good but without giving them the power to choose how they live their life they weren't really living. "We'll I'm with you, if they are being enslaved against their will then I can't let it happen either." He walked over to one of the groups of bandit corpses and rummaged around through their clothes finding a card with a rune on it. The card read, "Randel's Slave Auction House."

Charli took it from Michael, "the rune is for tracking, should lead us back to the slave house or their base, either way I say we follow it. I can activate the rune."

Michael side eyed her, he was all for a woman that wanted to take charge but this felt forced like she'd had to force her way into every situation or she may be left out, he may have been reading too far into it but he was pretty good at reading people. "Okay."

—————————Sui—————————

"Establish Permanent Dungeon Boundary Formation Yes | No?" A blue transparent screen floated in front of his face, Sui mentally selected yes and the dungeon's mana began spreading over the forest until a large portion of it was made into a dungeon. All this meant was Sui could monitor and change up the landscape and spawn monsters, b a forest was a good cover so there was no need to change, and monsters would spawn naturally as raw mana like this would mutate the forest life into his personal army of monsters. "Select primary dungeon master." The faces of all creatures in the dungeon appeared. He scrolled through until he reached Zena. He selected her and she immediately looked shocked before calming down and nodding. He received another system message, "Zena has accepted the role of acting primary dungeon master. Select primary dungeon boss." He went through the process again this time selecting Allura, "Warning current Dungeon Master's mana type and race may have an effect on monster evolution." He paused, Allura was still undergoing her evolution and he didn't want screw with it but it doesn't say that it's necessarily a bad thing.

He looked to the dungeon minion that had been at his side repeatedly punching his leg, "Torui help me out real quick. Should I wait to make Allura the boss or should I wait? It says it'll change her in some way when she evolves."

"Make me human asshole!" Torui had freaked out after finding out he had died and some how possessed a dungeon minion using the core that had become his new heart.

"Call it reckless but I'm gonna do it." He mentally selected yes. Suddenly two of the knights and the spider princess underwear a change, Allura grew nearly 30% bigger than her mother was and the knights were bigger than Allura had just been by almost that much. They were black before but they some how seemed dead. Their fangs were sharper, their chitin withered and their bodies thinner but he could feel the growth in their power, Vampire Spiders.
