Chapter 11 - Interaction

During the ride to my dwelling, Adamanthe questioned me.

"What do you think of the new projects?"

"I am interested in being a part of Noah's team. His spaceship design is outstanding. I know he has already put a lot of effort and time into making this a reality for us."

"And the other project, fighting the invasion?"

"I think it is entirely possible. We would need to take a live sample and then come up with possible solutions. We know sound is already one thing that drives it back but can it also kill it?"

"What made you proposed both ideas?"

"Our government has enough money to support both ideas. With the backing of The Alliance, I cannot see why we would not thrive in both endeavors."

He looked at me thoughtfully. I blushed. We pulled up to my dwelling faster than I anticipated.

"How did you know where I live?"

"Age, status, and availability."

"Logical." I muse. "Thank you for the ride and the gifts."

"You are welcome." He smiles at me and I depart his vessel. "You seem like an intelligent human. I look forward to our continued work together."

I nod and walk into the building. My hands tremble as I open the door. The boxes were still there waiting to be unpacked.

Sighing loudly, I elected to shower before doing anything. Washing away the exhaustion from cataloging all day felt cleansing.

When I step out of the shower, I dry myself quickly. I throw on some night clothing and enter the kitchen to make dinner. Realizing I have no groceries, I start to order them for delivery. Apparently today is a high traffic delivery time because the wait for groceries is three hours. By that time I hope to be asleep. Combing through menus, I hear the bell ring.

"Door speaker." I wait for the familiar beep. "Who is it?"

"Delivery from Southside Eats."

"I did not order anything." I respond confused.

"The order says for Calypso compliments of Adam."

Southside Eats is an exclusive restaurant. I was surprised but also excited to see what he ordered. I opened the door and let the two women bring the food into my house. They set two large trays down in the kitchen. There were at least three dishes from what I could tell and a bottle of wine.

I offered them a tip but they declined. "This Adam person was very generous. We hope you enjoy."

Opening the envelop with my name on it, I read it carefully. "I thought you could use a bite to eat. Thank you for your candor. I look forward to our next encounter."
