"So, what happens now?" Simon asked.
"We keep following the moon. We'll continue following it until the sun comes up," Delphine said. She put her sword back on her side and began to lead the way out of the vast forest until she feels the desire to rest again.
Simon walked beside her and awaited whatever challenge is coming towards them, and he was just as confused as Delphine was with Godbrand. She was not willing to give up on her path towards greater darkness; she still had the misty mountains as her goal to acquire power. Whether she liked it or not, she had to trust her instincts and force herself to accept the darkness as her fate. Even those who are destined to drive the night from the earth are fated to become one with the horrors of Hell. A time of hatred and death was already in Delphine's life, and it took full effect before she became a demon hunter.
Delphine and Simon continued to walk on the dark road and refused to look back upon the corpses of the dead creatures. They were already returned to their creator and awaited merciless judgment from their god; it would take more than just savagery to take down the ebony knight and her comrade. They walked further and watched as the moon began to grow more significant than it was before. Until further noticed, Delphine held onto the handle of her greatsword, and she saw Simon doing it too. Simon kept holding his weapon to make sure no deadly beast walks towards them to waste their time.
"Delphine. You seem silent," Simon said.
"I've always preferred being silent. It's what keeps most people and demons from wasting my time," Delphine said.
"I'm sure the people will not do anything to stand in our way. You may never know who might lend you a hand and who may not," he said.
"But I already have you. I'm still not sure why so many people seem to turn their backs on me. That is until I do them all a favor, and their minds and feelings change about me."
"From what I understand, a bunch of people across a whole bunch of towns and villages already know quite a lot about you. I don't see that being a bad thing."
Simon was not wrong about that; it was very refreshing to hear from a group of people how heroic a person like Delphine is. Unlike most adventurers and hunters, she is willing to risk her life for the protection and safety of the citizens of large regions.
"You're right. It isn't a bad thing, yet it can sometimes get quite annoying once those people repeat the same things they say a hundred times over," Delphine said.
"That happens because you do good things for those people. I know you may not seem to care, but I know you can do great things for even the leaders of the townsfolk," Simon said.
"You think I achieve greatness for what I do? That my name will be heard in alehouses and taverns?" She asked.
"Of course. I've been with you for God knows how long, and I can tell that the people you've saved so far will always remember your bravery and honor."
"I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Maybe I'll go out my way and tell my children of the things I've once done for the earth once they get older, of course. I have been thinking about settling down in a large hill somewhere. Indeed, it will take more than just courage to survive the countless nights ahead for me. I just need time to start thinking about it."
Delphine never saw herself as a city person, and she never knew what she would do once she is done with this perilous journey. Of course, she had Simon by her side, and he could help her out with finding a place to live, but that is a thing of which may never occur with everything she is destined to do. Before any of them could say or do anything else, a long howl was heard in the air. It was a demonic howl that could be heard about a hundred miles away; even a deaf person would listen to the cry and fall on his knees. Delphine felt her head and continued to listen to the sound, increasing higher with every second that comes when she stood there.
She then began to hear the sounds of trees falling, limbs crumbling, and the ground shaking as the night is before her. Then, Delphine and Simon turn around and notice a gigantic figure running towards them and ready to devour them. She realizes that it is a massive demonic wolf running on its four legs and could feel the intense pressure from the ebony knight.
"Simon, we must run!" Delphine shouted.
"What on earth is that?" Simon asked.
"TAKE MY HAND AND HOLD ON!!" She shouted. He then takes her hand, and they both started running as fast as possible away from the giant wolf.
As they were running, Simon could see that Delphine was running and pushing herself with everything to keep him alive. Nobody could run faster than Delphine, and it was very reasonable as to why she would try to keep the large carnivore away from her. The demonic blood and wolf blood that was inside Delphine's body allowed her to push the boundaries of humans and do unimaginable things. Delphine is still holding onto Simon's hand while running, and it seemed like she never runs out of breath as she did this. The wolf has black fur with a bunch of smoke coming from his body as he followed the two demon hunters; he also had red eyes, which quickly resembled the fact that he is a demon from Hell.
"What kind of wolf is that? I've never seen anything like it!" Simon said.
"It's best if we keep it that way. It's an animal, so it does not want to say anything to us," Delphine said.
"You know, nothing else about this stupid forest makes any sense, so what are the odds if he does speak to us? There is no way it can get even weirder if we progress further in the night," he said.
"Don't worry about it. Just stick with me, and you're going to be just fine!"
Simon did not know what this wolf wants from him or Delphine, but he was wasting his time and breath in trying to come up with a clear answer. He also had no clue how Delphine is still going so fast and not stopping for breath. Relaxing behind a large tree is no longer a priority for any of them as they ran for their lives. Delphine knew if she tried to fight him, she would be torn apart and be given more scars on her body. She also knew if Simon tried to fight back, he would be devoured and die instantly by how sharp the wolf's teeth were.
A few minutes later, she began to feel her blood boiling and her anger rising to take over her body. She had no other choice but to rely on her inner nature to survive the night and live on. Then, Delphine's eyes were becoming much angrier and went to the point where all she could hear is the sound of demons ripping people apart. The only thing she could hear is the sound of death calling her name and waiting to take her soul with him. Then, Delphine's eyes become red, started developing slit vertical pupils, and her real strength has appeared.
Her will and strength to continue fighting the demons began taking full effect on her body and soul. Then, Delphine picks Simon up and starts carrying him wherever the road takes her on a long night. This time, it appeared as if she is running at about forty miles per hour, and she had no regrets while doing this. Now, it seems like the wolf is trying to call for his master while trying so desperately to eradicate them from the earth.
"Delphine, it's still coming towards us!" Simon shouted.
"HANG ON! Hold nothing back. Keep holding my hand. You'll be alright!" Delphine shouted. He did not show any signs of which he found himself doing while being around the ebony knight.
A few minutes later, Delphine and Simon come across a large cliff that goes extremely down about a hundred feet. At this moment, they could see all of the trees and mountains of the world and felt surprised that they were still saying those words like a newborn hero. This time, both Delphine and Simon were chilling out and had seemed like forever since the last time he ran so fast. They could go for a quick rest time because of how much walking is left for them. Before any of them could say anything, a large shadow stood behind them and sounded very similar to someone they may already know.
