Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

Monic turned to face the guy who astonishingly called out her name. "Whithy! Oh my god, it is you! What are you doing here?" Monic stood up and pulled Whithy into a tight embrace.

"Yeah, I know you missed me that much, but I would not really mind you loosening up your embrace, Monic. I can barely breath." Whithy gagged around. And, so Monic withdrew from him.

On the other hand, Hyena's froze in her seat, wondering what on earth is happening in front of her. "Seriously, this? This Whithy is our childhood playmate, Monic? You got to be kidding me." Monic gave her best-friend a disgusting look.

"Yes, Hyena! How can you forget about him?" Hyena stood up to somehow level with Whithy's height. However, she failed. Despite her tall height, it still can't be compared to his. He stood before her at six foot and four inches high. "He simply look so different from before. I did not recognise an inch of him."

Slowly, Whithy placed the paper bag that he has been holding since she entered the house, down. "You are hurting my feelings, Hyena. For real." Hyena did not mind him acting up, at all. Rather, she rebuffed him.

"Sigh, come on fellas. Settle down. Standing tires me up." Hyena settled in the couch together with Monic. While, Whithy settled by the opposite couch.

"Well, I'm sorry for not recognising you Whithy. Now that you guys mentioned it, I just realized that your nickname before was 'White.' Which, was derived from your first name, 'Whithy.' Funny, it all makes sense to me!" Monic and Whithy exchanged gazes as Hyena laughed at herself.

"Took you quite some time to realize then, huh." Whithy teased. Together with him, Monic giggled at Hyena's reaction. She's gone mad. She did not like the tease, or perhaps his words. "My bad. Though, am glad Monic remembered me."

Whithy grinned at Monic, and so Monic did. "But to be fair, I trily missed you two. It's been 10 years since we last saw each other. We were still young back then. I remember, Hyena was 14, and you—Monic was 15, and I was 17 that time. It's sad that you had to leave me there, girls."

Hyena lifted her chin to meet Whithy's eyes with the same sadness caused by the recollection of their old memories. "I remember it all, now. It was painful to have you left there, White. I still remember how much I cried that time. I was nonstop saying that I do not want to go, because I do not want to miss my friend— you."

Hyena giggled at the memories flashing back to her. "Yeah, me too. When we got here, Hyena would not stop from crying. Her heart sure was broken, aye. Truth be told, we be both did. It took us a month or two before we finally adjusted by the thought of you being away from us." Monic added to Hyena's recollection.

Hearing the words of the girls, Whithy's eyes drew into a line as his nose flared in disapproval. "Man, you seriously are mean. Am I really that too easy to forget, that it only took you guys a month or two to move on?" Whithy wiped the invisible tear in his eyes, out of the drama.

"We never really moved on. Just moved forward." Hyena snapped. "Moved forward, so much that you had forgotten about him?" Monic snapped back on Whithy's behalf. "I agree with Monic." Upon hearing his agreement to Monic's statement, Hyena gave both of her friends a death stare.

Hyena curled legs up before her, wrapping her arms around it as she leaned her chin on her knees. "How have you been, though? I missed you. We did." Whithy adjusted from his sitting position, and copied Hyena's position. So, did Monic.

"Been great. Been working my ass off for years, till my parents granted me the rights of our company. Yes, I own our company, now. And, so far so good. Been ruling it like a king. Kidding aside, the company's rolling like fine wine, I spent sleepless nights and staked my blood, sweat, and tears to it, in the first place."

"Wow, you did a great job. It sure was a tough journey, huh. But then, you made it! It's one of the bunch of things you wanted to achieve in life." Monic smiled at Whithy, giving him a thumbs up.

"True that. You did well, and we're proud of you, White. So, what's next? If I recall it correctly, you swore to marry me after you became a successful businessman. Is that what you plan to do next?" Hyena joked around. It sure did crack the three of them to an extent. The laughed heartily. "Sure, why not?" Whithy uttered, afterwards.

Monic's eyes widened as if she just heard something unbelievable.

While, Hyena on the other hand, turned red. She regretted teasing him about the matter. However, whether she deny or not, she can not banish the fact that his words did cause her butterflies. It was music to her ears. And, at some point she's looking forward to it. He was her first love to begin with, anyway. She had kept it to herself for a decade, and she tried to forget about it when they stayed to Edinburgh. But then, it's all coming back to her. Like fresh roses, blooming magnificently.

"How's your parents, though? Are they doing great?" Hyena thanked God that Monic spoke. If not, she may have been lost in her thought. "Yeah, pretty great. They're enjoying life, travelling places to places. How about your parents?"

Hyena shrugged as response to his question.

"My parents are doing great as well. Often busy dealing with business, of course. Hyena's parents are likewise pretty busy. In fact, they just left for England a day or two ago." Monic stated.

Hyena was about to say something, but was not able to say so for the doorbell rang. "I'll go get it." She volunteered. She stood up and paced towards the main door. As soon as she reached the doorknob, Hyena turned it around, opening the door. What stood before her, was someone she least expected to see.

"Dale. What are you doing, here?" Dale did not answer. Rather, he walked past her as if she does not exist. "What on earth."

Hyena was about to shut the door, but a hand stopped her. "What the freaking crap, dude! It scared me." Lan, however, burst out in laughter. "My bad, sweetie. You may shut the door now." Lan planted a kiss on her cheeks, before turning to head to the living room.

Hyena was left speechless. She's got quite a lot of intruders, disturbing her today. Before anyone else could notice her long absence, Hyena shut the door behind her and went back to join her friends.
