I kissed his cheek and got up. We weren't moving far from the bar. He grabbed the car keys and looked at them.
'You wanna drive?' He said as he threw me the keys.
'Sure.' I straightened out my top and looked around the appartment. Dieter walked up to the bed. 'What?' I walked up behind him.
'This is where we had our first kiss.' He smiled and tapped the mattress. It melted my heart.
'Awh, hun.' I kissed his cheek and he wrapped his arms around me. We were looking at the empty bed just cuddling.
'The first time we...did something more then kiss was in the back if a truck.' He chuckled. I giggle as the memories come flooding back. His hand turned my head to look at him. 'So many memories in such a short time.' He was smiling wide. I kissed him hard. I love him so much and want to spend the rest of my life with him.
'Ready to go, baby?' I hugged him tight. He nods and we leave. Dieter was directing me to the new house. Then his phone started ringing.
'Hello?' He says as he picks up the phone.
'Hey, Dale from the mall. I'm calling about that kid.' His voice was low and sounded very sad.
'How's Diego?' Dieter asks, worried.
'The kid is fine, cute baby. However, no one has reported a missing baby or come and asked about him. No one has even come to check the bench.' He explained. My heart dropped. 'Do you guys want to come or shall we send him to the orphanage.' I pulled over.
'Can we ring you back?' Dieter rubbed his eyes.
'Yeah sure but we can only keep him for one more night.' He says before hanging up. He sighs and I just stare ahead.
'Your call.' He turned and looks at me. I turn to him.
'No babe, this is a decision we need to make together.' I sigh. He nods his head.
'Alright.' He shifts his whole body weight towards me. 'I would love to raise a child with you. I couldn't think of anyone else to mother my children now that I have you. I wouldn't know if I'm ready yet but I would much rather take him then leave him at an orphanage and I don't think I would be a bad father.' He stops and looks out the window as the word 'father' settles in. I felt a tear roll down my cheek.
'Me too and for the record you would be a great dad.' I said. 'Let me just do one thing.' I whipped out my phone and call Callum. He picks up more or less straight away.
'Hey congrats on moving!' He says as soon as he answered.
'Thank you, but this about something else.' So I proceeded to tell him the whole situation of finding him at the mall to now. He was silent for a bit.
'I'M GONNA BE A UNCLE!' He screamed down the line. 'Because I know your adopting that baby.' He added.
'So you think we should do it.' I laughed.
'Bro thats not even a question. That kid can grow up with no parents or very happy with a mum and dad and a loving uncle.' He said.
'Ok, thank you.' I said before hanging up. I look up at Dieter.
'Every mum is gonna gawk at you when he goes to school.' I mumble before turning the car around. He chuckles. We told the moving cars to carry on to the house and we drove to the mall.
'Are dogs allowed in the mall?' I asked.
'I don't think so.' He turned to Freya and scratched her behind her ears. We got to the mall and made our way to the security office. Dale welcomed us in and gave Diego back to us. I forgot how adorable he was. He giggled when he saw us. Dieter was beaming and picked him up with a cuddle.
'Right, I just need you to sign these papers.' He said while handing them to me. I took them and filled them in, there was a lot of papers.
'What's this one?' I said as I handed him the last paper.
'Oh that's if you want to change his name.' He pointed to the blank space. I looked at Dieter.
'I like Diego.' He said as he stroked Diego's head. Dale ripped up the paper and threw it in the bin.
'Ready to go home?' Dieter said to the baby. Diego giggled and soon fell asleep. Dale followed us to the car and there was a man loading our car with baby stuff.
'What's this?' I asked.
'A gift from the mall to you.' He said. 'Car seats, diapers, pacifiers, toys a cot.' Dale explained.
'Thank you so much.' Dieter said while cuddling Diego. We said goodbye and popped him in the car seat. Freya sniffed him a bit and fell back asleep. We sat in the car. I looked at the report Dale gave us and giggled when I saw 'Diego Harris' at the top. He was 1 years old and his birthday was the 28th of October. I gave the report to Dieter and started to drive to the house. We got to the house and it was magnificent. It was everything that Dieter wanted and everything that I wanted in one. I took Diego out of his car seat and opened the door. The boxes were on the floor when we walked in. Dieter had Freya, she found a place under the stairs which I guess if where she'll live. I placed Diego on the the sofa.
'We did it.' Dieter said while wrapping his arms around me. I hugged him.
'We just skipped so many steps but I'm glad we did.' I laughed.
'Me too.' He kissed my head and hugged me tighter.
